Steven Dexter
Steven Dexter (born August 26, 1962) is a theatre director and writer. Early life Dexter was born in South Africa, then he moved to London in 1984 and studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. West End productions In 2003 he directed both ''Peter Pan'' and ''The Pirates of Penzance'', playing in repertoire at the Savoy Theatre, London. His production of ''La Cava (musical), La Cava'' (book by Dana Broccoli, lyrics by John Claflin and Shaun McKenna, music by Laurence O'Keefe and Stephen Keeling) transferred from the Churchill Theatre, Bromley to the Victoria Palace Theatre, London, in 2000, transferring to the Piccadilly Theatre in 2001. In October 2012 his production of Loserville transferred to the Garrick Theatre, London, in a co-production between Kevin Wallace Productions, West Yorkshire Playhouse, TC Beech and Youth Music Theatre UK (now British Youth Music Theatre). London Academy Of Music And Dramatic Art
The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) is a drama school located in Hammersmith, London. It is the oldest specialist drama school in the British Isles and a founding member of the Federation of Drama Schools. LAMDA's Principal is Professor Mark O'Thomas, who succeeded Director Sarah Frankcom in 2022. Benedict Cumberbatch succeeded Timothy West as President of LAMDA's Board of Trustees in 2018. ''Honk!'' is a musical adaptation of the 1843 Hans Christian Andersen story ''The Ugly Duckling'', incorporating a message of tolerance. The book and lyrics are by Anthony Drewe and music is by George Stiles (of the British songwriting duo Stiles and Drewe). The musical is set in the countryside and features Ugly – a cygnet who is mistaken as an ugly duckling upon falling into his mother's nest and is rejected by everyone but Ida (his mother), a sly tomcat who only befriends him out of hunger, and several other barnyard characters. The musical opened at the Watermill Theatre in England in 1993. The Lyric Theatre, or simply The Lyric, is the principal, full-time producing theatre in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The theatre's current Executive Producer is Jimmy Fay, previously the founder and Artistic Director of Bedrock Productions. Elliot Davis is a British composer, musician and music documentary maker. Biography Davis started his career transcribing musical ideas for Lionel Bart. He then went on to work in the West End of London in a musical capacity on ''Miss Saigon'', '' Cats'', ''Les Misérables'', '' Blood Brothers'' and '' Jesus Christ Superstar''.
