Steven Bradley (politician)
Steven P. Bradley is an American politician and dentist serving as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from the 66th district. Elected in November 2020, he assumed office on January 11, 2021. Early life and education Bradley was born in Napa, California while his father was serving in the United States Air Force. He later lived in Epworth, Iowa. After graduating from Western Dubuque High School, Bradley attended Loras College and the University of Dubuque before earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa. He earned a dental degree from the Marquette University School of Dentistry. Career Outside of politics, Bradley works as a dentist. He was elected to the Iowa House of Representatives in November 2020 and assumed office on January 11, 2021. Bradley also serves as vice chair of the House Human Resources Committee. The University of Dubuque (UD) is a private Presbyterian Church (USA), Presbyterian university in Dubuque, Iowa. About 2,200 students attend the university. History The University of Dubuque has had a long history in Dubuque since its founding in 1852. Early years The institution currently known as the University of Dubuque was founded by the Rev. Adrian Van Vliet, who was pastor of the German Presbyterian Church, now known as the First Presbyterian Church of Dubuque, in 1852 to train ministers to serve the influx of immigrants to the upper midwest. Van Vliet believed the large number of immigrants — particularly German farmers and miners — would need ministers of the gospel for the communities they were establishing. Charles M. Thomson (born 1960) is an American politician. Charley Thomson was born in Charles City, Iowa, in 1960. He graduated from Charles City Community High School in 1978, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 1983, then obtained a Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1987. Thomson practiced law, and lived in Charles City and Chicago. He was the lead developer of the McQuillen Place apartments in his hometown. Thomson first ran for political office in 2020, losing to Craig Clark in the Republican Party primary for District 52 of the Iowa House of Representatives. Art Staed (born 1949) is a current Iowa State Representative from the 80th District. A Democrat, he was in the Iowa House of Representatives for one term, from 2007 to 2009, before being elected again in 2013. Staed holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, a Master's degree in Secondary Education from the University of Missouri at Kansas City and another master's degree in Secondary Administration from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. The Marquette University School of Dentistry is the dental school of Marquette University. It is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. Formerly the Dental Department of the Milwaukee Medical College (MMC), the school opened on September 26, 1894. It is the only dental school in Wisconsin. History On September 26, 1894, when the Dental Department of the Milwaukee Medical College commenced, there were nine faculty members for the 30 entering freshmen. Dean of the school was professor of oral surgery Benjamin G. Maercklein. The dental clinic consisted of 16 chairs and a technique laboratory. In 1897 the Dental Department of the Milwaukee Medical College was recognized by the National Association of Dental Faculties.
