Steve Watson (athletic Director)
Steve Watson is the current director of athletics for Loyola University Chicago. He previously served as athletic director at St. Bonaventure University from 2006 to 2014, and as an associate athletic director at Eastern Michigan University from 2001 to 2006. Watson attended college at Rutgers University and Bowling Green State University, where he played on both school's college basketball teams. Watson was named athletic director at Loyola University Chicago on November 12, 2014, and brought on his very close friend Kate Achter to be the new head women's basketball coach in 2016. An athletic director (commonly "athletics director" or "AD") is an administrator at many American clubs or institutions, such as colleges and universities, as well as in larger high schools and middle schools, who oversees the work of coaches and related staff involved in athletic programs. Position at institution Modern athletic directors are often in a precarious position, especially at the larger institutions. Although technically in charge of all of the coaches, they are often far less well-compensated and also less famous, with few having their own television and radio programs as many coaches now do. In attempting to deal with misconduct by coaches, they often find their efforts trumped by a coach's powerful connections, particularly if the coach is an established figure with a long-term winning record. The Bona Venture
''The Bona Venture'' is the student newspaper of St. Bonaventure University. The Bona Venture serves St. Bonaventure University and the city of Olean. It is free, and published weekly during the St. Bonaventure University academic year. The paper has been printed continually since 1926. It had always been a weekly newspaper with the exception of a brief semi-weekly experiment in the early 1980s, and due to budget cuts in 2014. Referred to in and around the campus as "The BV," the paper is published Fridays throughout the school year. There are 26 issues a year, a preview on the men's and women's basketball teams and a senior supplement at the end of the year. All editors, writers and staff members of ''The Bona Venture'' are undergraduates who volunteer their time and skills. In 2006, ''The Bona Venture" launched its online edition. The Loyola Ramblers women's basketball team represents Loyola University Chicago, located in Chicago, Illinois, United States, in NCAA Division I basketball competition. They currently compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference. History The Ramblers have never made the NCAA tournament. ''The Blade'', also known as the ''Toledo Blade'', is a newspaper in Toledo, Ohio published daily online and printed Thursday and Sunday by Block Communications. The newspaper was first published on December 19, 1835. Overview The first issue of what was then the ''Toledo Blade'' was printed on December 19, 1835. It has been published daily since 1848 and is the oldest continuously run business in Toledo. David Ross Locke gained national fame for the paper during the Civil War era by writing under the pen name Petroleum V. Nasby. Under this name, he wrote satires ranging on topics from slavery, to the Civil War, to temperance. President Abraham Lincoln was fond of the Nasby satires and sometimes quoted them.
