Steve Tomac
Steve Tomac (born 1953) is a retired Democratic member of the North Dakota Legislative Assembly serving in both the North Dakota House of Representatives (1987–1989) and the North Dakota Senate (1991–2002). Tomac represented Morton County in both North Dakota's 53rd Legislative District (1987–1989) and the 31st Legislative District (1991–2002). He lives in Saint Anthony, North Dakota. Personal life Steve Tomac was born in Hettinger, North Dakota, in 1953 and currently works as a farmer-rancher in Saint Anthony. He previously worked as a professional rodeo clown, performing at rodeos from 1971 until 2004. As a rodeo clown, he performed as both a bullfighter, barrel man, and contract specialty act. A rodeo clown, bullfighter (in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand) or rodeo protection athlete, is a rodeo performer who works in bull riding competitions. Originally, the rodeo clown was a single job combining "bullfighting"—the protection of riders thrust from the bull, as well as being an individual who provided comic relief. Today, the job is split into two separate ones: bullfighters who protect the riders from the bull, and entertainers (barrelmen) who provides comic humor. However, in some parts of the world and at some small rodeos, the jobs of bull rider protection and comic remain combined. The North Dakota Legislative Assembly is the state legislature of the U.S. state of North Dakota. The Legislative Assembly consists of two chambers, the lower North Dakota House of Representatives, with 94 representatives, and the upper North Dakota Senate, with 47 senators. The state is divided into 47 constituent districts, with two representatives and one senator elected from each district. Hettinger ( ) is a city in, and the county seat of, Adams County, North Dakota, United States. The population was 1,074 at the 2020 census. North Dakota State University operates a livestock research station near Hettinger, which often partners with South Dakota State University's Antelope Range and Livestock Research Station for sheep research.
