Steven Thomas (born Harry Steven Thomas, 30 October 1944) is an English designer and visual artist best known for his interiors and graphic design work for the Biba fashion brand. With design partner Tim Whitmore, Thomas led the small team which generated numerous designs and branding for the company's ambitious seven-storey department store known as "Big Biba" in London's Kensington High Street in the early to mid-1970s. In the 1960s, Thomas represented groups including Peter Frampton's group The Herd and went on to create designs for such music business clients as the Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney as well as brands such as Levi's, Lucky Strike, Subaru and British American Racing. With Alwyn W. Turner, Thomas is the author of Welcome To Big Biba. In 2008, Thomas was the subject of the exhibition Big Biba And Other Stories at London gallery Chelsea Space. Stephen Thomas (born 1952) is an American author, builder and television personality. He was the host of the PBS home renovation series ''This Old House'' from 1989 to 2003 and of '' Renovation Nation'', on Discovery's former Planet Green channel, for two seasons (2008–2010) until its cancellation. Biography Thomas was born in 1952 in Pomona, California, and is the eldest of six children. His interest in construction and renovation came from his father who used to buy and repair old houses to accommodate his growing family. The grandfather of Steve Thomas, Rooney Thomas was also a do-it-yourself guy and an Episcopal missionary in the Alaskan Arctic. Education Thomas received his bachelor's degree in philosophy from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. Stephen Antony "Stumpy" Thomas (born July 15, 1963) is a British-born Canadian former ice hockey right winger who played 20 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Detroit Red Wings. Playing career Thomas was born in Stockport, England but was raised in Markham, Ontario, Canada where he attended Markham District High School. As he often coasted in school on his hockey skills, he once had a teacher tell him to "smarten up, Steve; hockey can only take you so far". He played junior hockey for the Toronto Marlboros of the OHL (he was the last original Toronto Marlboro to make it to the Maple Leafs of the NHL). Steven Caldwell Thomas (born 3 October 1967) is an Australian politician. He is a Liberal member of the Western Australian Legislative Council, having represented South West Region since 2017, and has been the deputy leader of the party since January 2023. He was previously a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from February 2005 to September 2008 representing the electorate of Capel. Outside politics Thomas was born in Mansfield, Victoria. Prior to entering politics Thomas was a veterinary surgeon and has a degree in veterinary science. Thomas played rugby union for Gloucester, and made over 100 appearances for Neath winning five Principality Premiership titles, two Konica Minolta Cups.
