Steve McKevitt
Steve McKevitt is a British writer and academic. Born in Liverpool, McKevitt is a former entrepreneur who launched a number of successful companies and worked in the field of brand communications, a sector he has described as 'the persuasion industries'. He is visiting professor of brand communication at Leeds Beckett University. McKevitt has written several books and commentated widely on the issues facing consumers and companies in a marketing-dominated age. He published his first book, ''City Slackers'' (Cyan Books), in 2006, following it with ''Why The World Is Full Of Useless Things'' (Cyan Books) in 2007. In "City Slackers" he lamented the quality of management within Britain's business community and explored the knock-on effects on the economy of what he has dubbed 'career success without achievement'. Liverpool is a city and metropolitan borough in Merseyside, England. Gremlin Graphics Software Limited, later Gremlin Interactive Limited and ultimately Infogrames Studios Limited was a British software house based in Sheffield, working mostly in the home computer market. Like many software houses established in the 1980s, their primary market was the 8-bit range of computers such as the ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, MSX, Commodore 16 and Commodore 64. The company was acquired by French video game publisher Infogrames in 1999, and was renamed Infogrames Studios in 2000. Infogrames Studios closed down in 2003. Vinyl Solution
Vinyl Solution was a record label of the late 1980s and early 1990s, the offshoot of an independent London-based record store based at 231 Portobello Road (now known as Intoxica Records). The label signed many unconventional acts in a number of uncompromising genres, such as skatepunk thrash band The Stupids, Britcore rappers Gunshot, and Bomb Disneyland. The label had its biggest success when one of the label's techno-dance groups, Bizarre Inc, made the UK Singles Chart with the song "Playing with Knives". Artists Jonathan Saul Kane Depth Charge's Jonathan Saul Kane was a key member in the organisation of the label, with a number of projects releasing discs on the label. In the mid 1990s he set up D.C. Evan Harold Davis (born 8 April 1962) is an English economist, journalist, and presenter for the BBC. He has presented ''Dragons' Den'' since 2005. In October 2001, Davis took over from Peter Jay as the BBC's economics editor. He left this post in April 2008 to become a presenter on BBC Radio 4's ''Today'' programme. The Designers Republic (also tDR, and styled as The Designers Republic™) is a British graphic design studio based in Sheffield, England, founded in 1986 by Ian Anderson and Nick Phillips. They are best known for electronic music logos, album artwork, and anti-establishment aesthetics, embracing "brash consumerism and the uniform style of corporate brands". Work by tDR is held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Victoria and Albert Museum. The studio in its larger form closed in January 2009, with Anderson stating it would continue in a more "slimline" form.
