Steve McArthur
Stephen James "Steve" McArthur (born 17 November 1951) is a former Australian politician. He was the Liberal member for Monbulk in the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1992 to 2002. McArthur was born in Mildura to Harold Alexander and Gloria McArthur. He graduated from Ballarat Church of England Grammar School in 1969, and became a farmer. On 7 November 1980 he married Sophie Wajsman. His son, Jacob Wajsman McArthur, was born 14 April 1982. In 1990 he began to be active in the Liberal Party, and in 1992 he was selected as the Liberal candidate for the state seat of Monbulk. McArthur was elected to Monbulk, defeating Labor MP Neil Pope, and although he did not attain ministerial office during the Kennett Government, he was promoted to the front bench after Kennett's defeat in 1999 and became Shadow Minister for Water Resources and Manager of Opposition Business. The electoral district of Monbulk is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It is situated in the Dandenong Ranges on the outskirts of Melbourne, Victoria, Melbourne. Ballarat, Victoria
Ballarat ( ) is a city in the Central Highlands of Victoria, Australia. At the 2021 Census, Ballarat had a population of 116,201, making it the third largest city in Victoria. Neil Pope
Neil Albert Pope (born 3 March 1949) is a former Australian politician. He was the Labor member for Monbulk in the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1982 to 1992. and served as a Minister in the Labor Governments of John Cain II and Joan Kirner. He was the Victorian Minister for Labour from 1988 to 1992, Minister for Youth Affairs from 1988 to 1991 and Minister for School Education from January to October in 1992. Jeff Kennett
Jeffrey Gibb Kennett (born 2 March 1948) is a former Australian politician who was the 43rd Premier of Victoria between 1992 and 1999, and currently a media commentator. He was previously the president of the Hawthorn Football Club, serving from 2005 to 2011 and again from 2017 to 2022. James Merlino
James Anthony Merlino (born 19 August 1972) is an Australian retired politician who served as the member for Monbulk in the Victorian Legislative Assembly, as a member of the Labor Party. He served as Deputy Premier of Victoria and Minister for Education from December 2014 until June 2022 in the First and Second Andrews Ministry. Political career Merlino was elected at the 2002 state election defeating Steve McArthur.
