Steve Laore
Steve Eresi Laore (1963/1964 – 26 August 2010) was a Solomon Islands politician and member of parliament. Formerly a mechanic and businessman, and owner of a construction company, he defeated Augustine Taneko to become MP for the Shortlands constituency. He was a member of the Pacific Casino Hotel group that elevated Danny Philip to the position of prime minister A prime minister, premier or chief of cabinet is the head of the cabinet and the leader of the ministers in the executive branch of government, often in a parliamentary or semi-presidential system. Under those systems, a prime minister is not .... On 26 August 2010, only 22 days after he took office, he collapsed at a dinner celebrating Philip's victory and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Laore's death left Philip with a majority of one in the Parliament. He was 46 at the time of his death. He was survived by his wife, Caroline Vave Laore, and three children. Augustine Taneko (born October 3 1954) was a member of the National Parliament of Solomon Islands, representing the Shortlands constituency. He lives in Shortlands Shortlands is a suburb of South East London, England, within the London Borough of Bromley. Christopher Laore
Christopher Laore is a Solomon Islands politician. A physiotherapist, he worked as Director of Rehabilitation Services at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara. In August 2010, his brother Steve Laore was elected first-time Member of Parliament for the constituency of Shortlands, in the Western Province, but died suddenly just three weeks later. Christopher Laore resigned from his position in the hospital to stand as a candidate in the resulting bye-election in March 2011, which he won with 58.9% of the vote. Upon being elected, he stated: "At this time I don't have any plans and visions. My people want me to come and implement the plans and visions of my brother", which he described as improving the livelihood of the people and helping them be self-reliant. Solomon Islands is an island country consisting of six major islands and over 900 smaller islands in Oceania, to the east of Papua New Guinea and north-west of Vanuatu. Danny Philip (born 5 August 1953) is a politician and diplomat from Solomon Islands. He was Prime Minister of Solomon Islands from 2010 to 2011. Previously he served as Foreign minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1995 to 1996 and again from July 2000 to June 2001.
