Steven Absher Hamilton (November 30, 1934 – December 2, 1997) was a Major League Baseball (MLB) and National Basketball Association (NBA) player. Basketball career College Hamilton attended Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky, from 1954–1958, where he excelled in basketball. He scored 1,829 points (4th all-time) and established five MSU rebounding records—single-season average (20.1), average career (16.4), single game (38), single season (543), and career (1,675). He was an All-American in 1957, and a two-time All-Ohio Valley Conference First-Team selection. NBA From 1958 to 1960 he was a power forward/center for the Minneapolis Lakers. He played for the 1958/59 team that lost to the Boston Celtics during the 1959 NBA Finals. Over 2 seasons he averaged 4.5 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game, and 0.5 assists per game. Steve Hamilton is a mystery writer who is known for the Alex McKnight series. Apart from his Alex McKnight books, Hamilton has written ''Night Work'' and ''The Lock Artist''. His works have won the Edgar Award, Shamus Award and Barry Award. Books His first book, ''A Cold Day in Paradise'', won the Private Eye Writers of America/St. Martin's Press Award for best first mystery by an unpublished writer, the Mystery Writers of America Edgar Award for best first novel, and the Private Eye Writers of America Shamus Award for best first novel, the only first novel to win the latter two awards. Roland James Hamilton, known as Steve Hamilton (24 February 1950 – 1 August 2009) was a Scottish broadcaster. He was best known for DJing and presenting on Radio Forth and announcing on ''Wheel of Fortune''. Biography Hamilton was born on 24 February 1950 in Dumfries but grew up in Ayr owing to his father's operation of a motor car dealership there. He went to Carrick Academy, Ayr Academy, and the Royal School of Music and Drama, where the diploma in speech and drama he graduated with failed to rescue him from a job at Austin Reed in Princes Street. A later job as a props man at BBC TV in Glasgow brought his voice to the attention of the place's broadcasters who gave him his job at Radio Forth, which he began on 22 January 1975; at this point he changed his name to Steve from Roland James on the grounds that Roland didn't suit a DJ. Earthworks (band)
Bill Bruford's Earthworks were a British jazz band led by drummer Bill Bruford. The band recorded several albums for Editions EG, Discipline Global Mobile and Summerfold Records. Earthworks went through several line-ups: in addition to the band's accomplishments as a unit, Earthworks was a training ground for Django Bates, Iain Ballamy, Patrick Clahar, Mark Hodgson, Steve Hamilton and Gwilym Simcock. The final band line-up featured previously established jazz musicians in the form of Chick Corea sideman Tim Garland and veteran bass player Laurence Cottle. In interviews during the band's earlier years, Bruford sometimes compared his responsibilities within it as being similar to those of Art Blakey with the Jazz Messengers, in that he was providing an environment for young British jazz players to gain attention and experience before going on to become well-known players and bandleaders in their own right. Steven Kerry Hamilton (born 7 September 1970) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with North Melbourne Football Club, North Melbourne in the Australian Football League (AFL). Hamilton was selected by North Melbourne at pick 74 in the 1988 VFL Draft, 1988 National Draft, from North Adelaide Football Club, North Adelaide. He made six appearances in the 1990 AFL season and received two Brownlow Medal votes for his efforts in a win over Fitzroy Football Club, Fitzroy at Princes Park (stadium), Princes Park.
