Stephen Foster (born 3 December 1974) is a professional footballer, currently assistant manager at Whitley Bay F.C., Whitley Bay. Career Foster, who is the son of former Mansfield Town F.C., Mansfield Town defender Colin Foster (footballer, born 1952), Colin Foster, began his career at Mansfield Town, where he made a handful of appearances before being released by the club. He later played for Conference National, Conference sides Telford United F.C., Telford United and Woking F.C., Woking, before returning to English Football League, the Football League with Bristol Rovers F.C., Bristol Rovers in 1997. After five seasons with Bristol Rovers, in which he made 237 appearances in all competitions, Foster was released by new manager Ray Graydon in April 2002 as Bristol Rovers sought to reduce their wage bill after finishing next to bottom of Division Three. Mansfield is a market town and the administrative centre of Mansfield District in Nottinghamshire, England. It is the largest town in the wider Mansfield Urban Area (followed by Sutton-in-Ashfield). It gained the Royal Charter of a market town in 1227. The town lies in the Maun Valley, north of Nottingham and near Sutton-in-Ashfield.
