Steve Edmed
Steve Edmed (born 10 February 1968) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. Primarily a , he played for the Balmain Tigers, North Queensland Cowboys and Sheffield Eagles. Playing career A Tweed Heads Seagulls junior, Edmed represented the New South Wales under-19 side in 1987, starting at in their 31–18 win over Queensland. He made his first grade debut for the Balmain Tigers in Round 3 of the 1988 NSWRL season. That season, he came off the bench in the Tigers' Grand Final loss to the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. In 1989, Edmed became a starting prop for the Tigers, playing 18 games, including the club's Grand Final loss to the Canberra Raiders. Over then next six seasons, Edmed remained a regular starter for Balmain. He left the club at the end of the 1995 season, having played 136 games. In 1996, Edmed joined the North Queensland Cowboys. The 1990 New South Wales Rugby League season was the eighty-third season of professional rugby league football in Australia. Sixteen clubs competed for the J J Giltinan Shield and Winfield Cup during the premiership season, which culminated in a grand final between the previous season's premiers, the Canberra Raiders and the Penrith Panthers, who were making their grand final debut. The New South Wales Waratahs ( or ;), referred to as the Waratahs, are an Australian professional rugby union team representing the majority of New South Wales in the Super Rugby competition. SG Ball Cup
The S. G. Ball Cup is a junior rugby league football competition played predominantly in New South Wales, between teams made up of players aged under 19. Teams from Canberra and Melbourne (Victoria Thunderbolts) also participate. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic in New South Wales teams from Perth (West Coast Pirates) and Auckland (New Zealand Warriors) also participated. The competition is administered by the New South Wales Rugby League. 1996 North Queensland Cowboys Season
The 1996 North Queensland Cowboys season was the 2nd in the club's history. Coached by Graham Lowe and captained by Adrian Vowles, they competed in the Optus Cup. Season summary After finishing their debut season in last place, there was nowhere to go but up for the Cowboys in 1996. Under new head coach, former New Zealand, Queensland, Manly and Wigan boss Graham Lowe, the club recruited fairly strongly bringing in first grade regulars Jason Death (from Canberra) and Andrew Dunemann (from Gold Coast), former All Black Shane Howarth and New Zealand representatives Se'e Solomona and Whetu Taewa. The 1994 NSWRL season (known as the 1994 Winfield Cup Premiership due to sponsorship from Winfield) was the eighty-seventh season of professional rugby league football in Australia.
