Steve Bice
Stephen "Steve" Bice (born October 5, 1981 in Sarnia, Ontario) is a Canadian curler from Milton, Ontario. He is currently the alternate for his brother Mark's rink. Career Bice was a former alternate on Glenn Howard's team. The 2007 Ontario Men's Curling Championship took place in Bice's hometown of Sarnia. Bice was on the spare list, and when Howard's second Brent Laing had to leave the tournament because his wife was giving birth, Bice was picked up to play on the team. The team won the provincials, and he was kept for the 2007 Tim Hortons Brier, which the team also won. He capped off the season by winning the 2007 Ford World Men's Curling Championship. Bice would remain on as alternate for the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Tim Hortons Briers. He threw just a combined 17 shots in all four Briers. Sarnia
Sarnia is a city in Lambton County, Ontario, Canada. It had a 2021 population of 72,047, and is the largest city on Lake Huron. Sarnia is located on the eastern bank of the junction between the Upper and Lower Great Lakes where Lake Huron flows into the St. Clair River in the Southwestern Ontario region, which forms the Canada–United States border, directly across from Port Huron, Michigan. Milton (Canada 2016 Census, 2016 census population 110,128) is a town in Southern Ontario, Canada, and part of the Regional Municipality of Halton, Halton Region in the Greater Toronto Area. 2014 Tim Hortons Brier
The 2014 Tim Hortons Brier was held from March 1 to 9 at the Interior Savings Centre in Kamloops, British Columbia. Unlike previous years, the winner of the 2014 Brier automatically qualified for the 2015 Brier as Team Canada, similarly to the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. 2014 Travelers Tankard
The 2014 Travelers Tankard, southern Ontario's men's provincial curling championship, was held from January 27 to February 2 at the Smiths Falls Community Memorial Centre in Smiths Falls, Ontario. The winning Mark Bice team (skipped by Greg Balsdon) represented Ontario at the 2014 Tim Hortons Brier in Kamloops, British Columbia. Teams *Mark Bice skipped the team through the Zone and Regional playdowns, and thus the team was named after him. Greg Balsdon returned to the lineup as Skip for the Provincial Championship after missing 2 months due to injury. The team plays as a 5-man squad regularly during the Tour season. Greg Balsdon
Gregory Balsdon (born October 9, 1977) is a Canadian curler from North York, Ontario. He currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. Curling career Balsdon was born in Toronto, Ontario. In 1995, Balsdon won the Ontario Schoolboy championship for his Don Mills Collegiate Institute team. In 1996, he won the provincial junior mixed title. Balsdon skips one of the top teams in Ontario. As of 2019, Balsdon has played in 13 provincial championships. He first played at the provincials in 1999, playing for John Base (4th place). He left the Base rink in 2000 to form his own team. He qualified again in 2002 as a skip, again finishing 4th. His next provincial was the 2005 Ontario Kia Cup, where his rink finished 4th once again. He qualified again in 2007, where he once again finished 4th at the 2007 TSC Stores Tankard. His next provincial in 2011 would be more successful. Brent Laing
Brent George Laing (born December 10, 1978) is a Canadian curler from Horseshoe Valley, Ontario. He currently plays lead for Mike McEwen. He grew up in Meaford, Ontario. Career Curling out of the Ottawa Curling Club (in Ottawa) and later the Stayner Curling Club (in Stayner, Ontario), Laing played lead for John Morris until Morris left for Alberta in 2003. With Morris, Laing won the 1998 and 1999 Canadian Junior Curling Championships as well as the 1998 and 1999 World Junior Curling Championships. The team played in the 2001 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials, but missed the playoffs after finishing with a 5-4 record. In 2002, they made it all the way to the Brier final, losing to Alberta's Randy Ferbey. In 2004, Laing joined the Glenn Howard rink, playing second for the team.
