Sterling Hyltin
Sterling Hyltin is an American ballet dancer. She is currently a principal dancer at the New York City Ballet. Early life and training Hyltin was born in Amarillo, Texas. She wanted to be an ice skater, and would train before school started. However, Hyltin's mother also enrolled her to ballet classes. When she was 12, she auditioned for School of American Ballet, but was rejected. She was ultimately accepted by SAB's summer program in 2000, and stayed in New York as a full-time student. Career Hyltin became an apprentice with New York City Ballet in 2002, and became a member of the corps de ballet the following year. She was named soloist in 2006 and principal dancer the following year. ''Pulcinella Variations'' is a one-act ballet by Justin Peck, set to Igor Stravinsky's ''Pulcinella Suite'', with costumes designed by Tsumori Chisato. The ballet premiered on September 28, 2017, danced by the New York City Ballet, at the David H. Koch Theater. The Nutcracker (Balanchine)
Choreographer George Balanchine's production of Tchaikovsky's 1892 ballet ''The Nutcracker'' has become the most famous stage production of the ballet performed in the U.S. ( Mikhail Baryshnikov's production is the most famous television version, although it too originated onstage.) It uses the plot of the Alexandre Dumas, ''père'', version of E.T.A. Hoffmann's tale, "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" (1816). ''Dances at a Gathering'' is a ballet choreographed by Jerome Robbins to music by Frédéric Chopin, with costumes designed by Joe Eula. The ballet premiered on May 22, 1969, at the New York State Theater, performed by the New York City Ballet. Production ''Dances at a Gathering'' is the first ballet Robbins created for the New York City Ballet (NYCB) in years, after he worked on Broadway theatre.
