Anna Sterky
Ane Cathrine "Anna" Sterky née Nielsen (1856–1939) was a Danish-Swedish politician (Social Democrat), trade union organiser, feminist and editor, chiefly active in Sweden. Sterky worked as a seamstress in Denmark, where she was active in the Danish trade union movement. In 1891, she moved to Sweden with the Swedish trade union organiser Fredrik Sterky, with whom she had a relationship; they never married, but she used his surname. She was a pioneer in her work to build up trade unions for women, and she also worked for the creation of a social democratic women's group within the party. She was a member of the Swedish Social Democratic Party from 1900 to 1925, chairwoman of the Women's Trade Union (1902–1907), editor of the magazine ''Morgonbris'' together with Maria Sandel (1904–1909) and honorary chairwoman of the Social Democratic Women in Sweden (1920–1925). Fredrik Sterky (1860–1900) was an early Social Democrat and trade union organizer in Sweden. Fredrik Sterky co-founded and was chairman of the Swedish Trade Union Confederation from 1898. The Swedish Social Democratic Party, formally the Swedish Social Democratic Workers' Party ( sv, Sveriges socialdemokratiska arbetareparti ; S/SAP), usually referred to as The Social Democrats ( sv, link=no, Socialdemokraterna ), is a social-democratic political party in Sweden. Founded in 1889, the SAP is the country's oldest and currently largest party. From the mid-1930s to the 1980s, the Social Democratic Party won more than 40% of the vote. From 1932 to 1976, the SAP was continuously in government. Most recently, the party was heading the government from 2014 to 2022. Styrbjörn The Strong
Styrbjörn the Strong ( non, Styrbjǫrn Sterki ; died about 985) according to late Norse sagas was a son of the Swedish king Olof, and a nephew of Olof's co-ruler and successor Eric the Victorious, who defeated and killed Styrbjörn at the Battle of Fyrisvellir. As with many figures in the sagas, doubts have been cast on his existence, but he is mentioned in a roughly contemporaneous skaldic poem about the battle. According to legend, his original name was ''Björn'', and ''Styr-'', which was added when he had grown up, was an epithet meaning that he was restless, controversially forceful and violent. Prose retellings It is believed that there once was a full saga about Styrbjörn, but most of what is extant is found in the short ''Styrbjarnar þáttr Svíakappa''.
