Stergomena Tax
Stergomena Lawrence Tax (born 6 July 1960) is Tanzania's minister for foreign affairs and East African cooperation since 2022. She was previously Minister of Defence and National Service from 2021 to 2022, becoming the first woman to hold the title since the country’s independence. Before that she served as the executive secretary of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). Early life Tax was educated at a number of primary schools in Tanzania and at Lake Secondary School in Mwanza where she was a contemporary of Tanzanian fifth president John Magufuli. She obtained her Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance from the University of Dar es Salaam in 1991. She thereafter obtained a Master of Philosophy in Policy Management and Development Economics and a Doctor of Philosophy in International Development from the University of Tsukuba in Japan. Ministry Of Foreign Affairs And East African Cooperation
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation is a government ministry of Tanzania. The ministry is headed by Liberata Mulamula, and its offices are located at Mtumba in Dodoma. History The ministry of foreign affairs was set up following Tanganyikan independence in 1961, but until 1963, it was a department of the prime minister's office with Oscar Kambona as the first minister. The ministry of external affairs was created in 1964 with Stephen Mhando as its first minister. The name of the ministry has been changed three times since 1975, first to foreign affairs and then to the Ministry Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. John Magufuli merged the Ministry of East African Cooperation into the department, renaming it to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation. The ''Daily News'' is an English-language newspaper in Tanzania, the second-largest economy in the East African Community. History The ''Daily News'' was the result of a forced merger of two papers. ''The Standard'' was first published as the ''Tanganyika Standard'' in January 1930 by the Tanganyikan East African Standard Limited. In 1967, it was taken over by a multinational London-Rhodesian Company (LONRHO). After the creation of Tanzania in 1964, the newspaper became known simply as ''The Standard''. On 5 February 1970, ''The Standard'' was nationalised by the Tanzanian government. ''The Nationalist'' was first published on 17 April 1964, as a government-owned daily, and struggled to compete with ''The Standard''. Malawi
Malawi (; or aláwi Tumbuka: ''Malaŵi''), officially the Republic of Malawi, is a landlocked country in Southeastern Africa that was formerly known as Nyasaland. It is bordered by Zambia to the west, Tanzania to the north and northeast, and Mozambique to the east, south and southwest. Lilongwe
Lilongwe (, , ) is the capital and most populated city of the African country of Malawi. It has a population of 989,318 as of the 2018 Census, up from a population of 674,448 in 2008. In 2020 that figure was 1,122,000.
