Steregushchy Class Corvette
The ''Steregushchiy'' class (russian: Стерегущий, , Guarding), Russian designation Project 20380, is a class of corvettes being built for the Russian Navy. Designed by the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau, subsequent vessels were built to an improved design (Project 20381), incorporating the Zaslon-Redut SAM system. The ship full displacement and dimensions are large for a corvette, thus it is designated as a frigate by NATO. The ''Steregushchiy'' class has been further developed into the (Project 20385) and Project 20386 subclasses. The export variant is known as Project 20382 ''Tigr''. Severnaya Verf
Severnaya Verf (russian: Северная верфь, , Northern Shipyard) is a major shipyard on in Saint Petersburg, Russia, producing naval and civilian ships. It was founded as a branch of the Putilov Plant in the late 1800s. Under the Soviets, the shipyard was generally known as Shipyard No. 190 (in the name of Zhdanov) and reverted to its former name in 1989. The priority market for ''Severnaya Verf'' is military export to Asian countries as India, China and Vietnam. The Orlan-10 (russian: Орлан-10) is a reconnaissance, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed by the Special Technology Center (STC) in Saint Petersburg for the Russian Armed Forces. The Orlan-10 features a composite hull that reduces its radar signature. Drones are usually deployed in groups of two or three; the first is used for reconnaissance at a height of , the second for electronic warfare and the third as a data relay. One system can include up to five vehicles. The price for one system (including 2 drones, a portable launch complex, a control station and a set of spare parts) is reportedly 5 million rubles, or ~US$160,000 (FY 2013). A frigate () is a type of warship. In different eras, the roles and capabilities of ships classified as frigates have varied somewhat. The name frigate in the 17th to early 18th centuries was given to any full-rigged ship built for speed and maneuverability, intended to be used in scouting, escort and patrol roles.
