Steppe Dawns
''Steppe Dawns'' (russian: Степные зори, Stepnye zori) is a 1953 Soviet drama film directed by Lev Saakov based on the eponymous novel by Boris Bedny. The film received a permit dated March 25, 1953 for the all-Union hire except Moscow, Leningrad and the capitals of the republics of the Soviet Union, but then the Ministry of culture of the USSR imposed a complete ban on the production of the film "because of the extremely low ideological and artistic level." According to film critics Evgeny Margolit and Vyacheslav Shmyrov: "the film made by all the canons of the conflict-free theory and good fight with the best principle has lost all relevance in the new political environment". Valentina Petrovna Telegina (russian: Валенти́на Петро́вна Теле́гина; 1915 — 1979) was a Soviet and Russian actress. Biography Telegina was born on February 23, 1915, in Novocherkassk, capital of Don Cossacks (now the Rostov Oblast). In 1937, she graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Performing Arts, workshop of Sergei Gerasimov. Since 1937 the actress of Saint Petersburg Lensoviet Theatre, in 1940-1941 of the Baltic Fleet Theatre. In the cinema since 1934. She had her first big role as Motya Kotenkova in Sergei Gerasimov's film '' Komsomolsk''. After the war she moved to Moscow, working at the Gorky Film Studio from 1946. Leonid Aleksandrovich Kmit (born Aleksei Aleksandrovich Kmita; russian: Алексей Александрович Кмита́; 9 March 1908 – 11 March 1982) was a Soviet and Russian actor. In 1931 he graduated from Saint Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy (SPbGATI), where he studied in the acting class of Yevgeny Chervyakov.
