Stephen Rice (academic)
Stephen P. Rice is a geographer and academic. Since 2011, he has been Professor of River Science at Loughborough University. Education and career Rice holds a PhD from the University of British Columbia. In 1995, he was appointed Lecturer in Physical Geography at the University of Loughborough. After promotions to Senior Lecturer and Reader, he was appointed Professor of River Science in 2011. Between 2016 and 2018, he was also Head of Loughborough's Department of Geography and Environment, and since 2018 he has been Associate Dean for Research in the School of Social Sciences. Loughborough University (abbreviated as ''Lough'' or ''Lboro'' for post-nominals) is a public research university in the market town of Loughborough, Leicestershire, England. It has been a university since 1966, but it dates back to 1909, when Loughborough Technical Institute began with a focus on skills directly applicable in the wider world. In March 2013, the university announced it had bought the former broadcast centre at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park as a second campus. Senior lecturer is an academic rank. In the United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland, and Israel senior lecturer is a faculty position at a university or similar institution. The title of reader in the United Kingdom and some universities in the Commonwealth of Nations, for example India, Australia and New Zealand, denotes an appointment for a senior academic with a distinguished international reputation in research or scholarship. In the traditional hierarchy of British and other Commonwealth universities, reader (and principal lecturer in the new universities) are academic ranks above senior lecturer and below professor, recognising a distinguished record of original research. Reader is similar to a professor without a chair, similar to the distinction between ''professor extraordinarius'' and ''professor ordinarius'' at some European universities, professor and chaired professor in Hong Kong and "professor name" (or associate professor) and chaired professor in Ireland. Lynne Frostick
Lynne Elizabeth Frostick, (born 2 February 1949) is a chartered British geographer and geologist. She was a Professor of Physical Geography at the University of Hull until 2014. Her research interests include sediment and flow dynamics in rivers and estuaries and the interdisciplinary problems associated with waste. The physical modelling facility she has developed at The Deep is part of the EU HYDRALAB project. Her activities outside of the university have included a seat on the editorial board of ''The Geographical Journal'' and chairing the government's Expert Group for Women in STEM. Frostick is on the chair of the British Society for Geomorphology. She is a member of the government's science careers expert group. André Roy (geographer)
André Roy (born February 8, 1975) is an American-born Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career Roy was born in Port Chester, New York. As a youth, he played in the 1989 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Montreal. Roy played junior ice hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Roy was drafted by the Boston Bruins, 151st overall in the sixth round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft and has also played for the Ottawa Senators, the Tampa Bay Lightning (where he won the Stanley Cup in 2004), the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Calgary Flames. During the 2006–07 season, Roy was placed on waivers by the Penguins and claimed by the Lightning, where he was a popular, though seldom used, enforcer.
