Stephen Price (theatre Manager)
Stephen Price (September 25, 1782 — January 20, 1840) was a theatrical manager and impresario from New York City who managed the Park Theatre in Manhattan, and Drury Lane in London. Early life and career Stephen Price was born in New York City on September 25, 1782. He was the eldest son of Michael Price and Helena Cornwell, who also had one daughter and three younger sons who survived infancy. Price's parents owned a farm in Red Bank, New Jersey, prior to the American Revolution. Michael Price sided with the Loyalists during the war, and when the British occupied New York City, he moved his family to the city and became a merchant. In August 1783, Michael Price was indicted for his loyalty to the British crown, and the family fled to Shelburne, Nova Scotia. Samuel William Reynolds
Samuel William Reynolds (4 July 1773 – 13 August 1835) was a mezzotint Engraving, engraver, Landscape painting, landscape painter and landscape gardener. Reynolds was a popular engraver in both Britain and France and there are over 400 examples of his work in the National Portrait Gallery (London), National Portrait Gallery, London. George Frederick Cooke
George Frederick Cooke (17 April 1756 in London – 26 September 1812 in New York City) was an England, English actor. As famous for his erratic habits as for his acting, he was largely responsible for initiating the romantic style in acting that was later made famous by Edmund Kean. Career Although he claimed to have been born in Westminster, it seems likely that he was the illegitimate child of a British soldier in Dublin. He was raised in Berwick-upon-Tweed, where in 1764 he was apprenticed to a printer. However, early exposure to strolling players made an impact. By the end of the decade he had gotten himself released from his apprenticeship and become an expert. Bedloe's Island
Liberty Island is a federally owned island in Upper New York Bay in the United States. Its most notable feature is the Statue of Liberty (''Liberty Enlightening the World''), a large statue by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi that was dedicated in 1886. Henry John Wallack (1790 – 30 August 1870) was a British actor, stage manager, and brother of actor James William Wallack. Wallack was born in London. Wallack's parents were comedians, who performed at the London minor playhouses and in the British provinces. He worked in the United States, making his debut at the Anthony Street Theatre on May 9, 1821. In America he was received as Hamlet, Sir Peter Teazle, Sir Anthony Absolute, and many other parts. Charles Mathews (28 June 1776, London – 28 June 1835, Devonport) was an English theatre manager and comic actor, well known during his time for his gift of impersonation and skill at table entertainment. His play ''At Home'', in which he played every character, was the first monopolylogue and the defining work in the genre. Early life Charles was born to James Mathews (died 1804), a Wesleyan Methodist bookseller, printer, and pharmacist on the Strand, who also served as minister in one of the Countess of Huntingdon's chapels.
