Stephen McNamara
Stephen McNamara (born 1973) is an Irish former hurler and manager who played as a right corner-forward for the Clare senior team. McNamara made his first appearance for the team during the 1995 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1999 championship. During that time he won two All-Ireland medals and three Munster medals. At club level McNamara played with Éire Óg. In retirement from playing McNamara has become involved in coaching, most notably with Faughs and Ballinteer St. John's in Dublin. McNamara is the third generation of his family to enjoy All-Ireland success. Éire Óg, Inis GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Ennis, County Clare, Clare, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club plays both Hurling and Gaelic Football at all age levels. Their most recent major achievement came on 7 November 2021 when they won the Clare Senior Football Championship for the nineteenth time, defeating Kilmurry Ibrickane GAA, Kilmurry-Ibrickane by 1–11 to 0–09 in Cusack Park (Ennis), Cusack Park. Prior to the official club formation in 1952, the Ennis Dalcassians represented the county capital. Between 1944-1956 and 1994-1995, players from local rivals St.Josephs Doora-Barefield GAA, St. Joseph's, Doora-Barefield joined up with the club to form the Ennis Faughs. Both clubs were competing at lower levels at the time so it was seen as an opportunity to play senior football. Faughs GAA Club ( ga, CLG Fág an Bealach) is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) hurling and camogie club in Templeogue, Dublin, Ireland. They have won 31 titles. History Faughs GAA Club was founded in Easter 1885, "under the big tree" in the Phoenix Park in Dublin. Its inaugural meeting was held at 4 Gardiner's Row, home of Michael Cusack (now the Dergvale Hotel). The club name, Faughs, is derived from the Irish language slogan, , meaning "clear the way," a battle cry used by ancient Irish warriors. When the Dublin County Board was formed in 1886, Larry O'Toole was on the committee. At this time Faughs, wearing colours amber and black played both hurling and football, took part in the first Dublin championships in 1887, and were winners of the Dublin Senior Football Championship in 1889. Kerry GAA
The Kerry County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), or Kerry GAA, is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland. It is responsible for Gaelic games in County Kerry, and for the Kerry county teams. The Kerry branch of the Gaelic Athletic Association was founded in the year 1888. Football is the dominant sport in the county, with both the men's and women's teams among the strongest in the country at senior level. All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC) ( ga, Craobh Shinsir Peile na hÉireann) is the premier competition in Gaelic football. An annual tournament organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), it is contested by the county teams in All-Ireland. The first tournament was held in 1887; it has been held every year since 1889. Each tournament ends with a final, played by the 35th Sunday of the year at Croke Park in Dublin, with the winning team receiving the Sam Maguire Cup. History The first Championship to be held featured club teams who represented their respective counties after their county championship. Ger Power
Ger Power (born 27 June 1952) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for the Austin Stacks club and at senior level for the Kerry county team between 1973 and 1988. Power captained Kerry to the All-Ireland title in 1980. Early life Ger Power was born in Annacotty, County Limerick in 1952. He was little over a week old when his father, Jackie Power, who worked for CIÉ, was transferred to Tralee in County Kerry. Jackie was a great hurler with Limerick in the 1930s and 1940s, winning three All-Ireland medals in 1934, 1936 and 1940. He later played hurling with Kerry and was a huge influence on his son's sporting career. Jackie Power
Jackie Power (30 May 1916 – 23 February 1994) was an Irish sportsperson. A renowned dual player, he played both hurling and Gaelic football with his local club Ahane and with the Limerick senior inter-county teams in both codes from 1935 until 1949. He later played with the Kerry senior hurling team. Early life Jackie Power was born in Annacotty, County Limerick in 1916. He was educated at his local national school where he was introduced to the game of hurling by his teacher. In his teens Power showed promise at athletics, however, he decided to forfeit this interest and concentrate on Gaelic games. Playing career Club Power played his club hurling and football with his local club in Ahane and enjoyed much success. Ballinteer () is a small southside suburb of Dublin, located in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Ireland, extensively developed from the late 1960s onwards. Geography Ballinteer is located approximately from the city centre.
