Stephen Hotter
Stephen John Hotter (born 2 December 1969) is a New Zealand cricketer and netball coach. He played in 24 first-class and 17 List A matches for Wellington between 1989 and 2000. A left-arm fast-medium bowler, Hotter took a wicket with his first delivery in first-class cricket when he dismissed Ken Rutherford of Otago on 19 January 1989. He was only the second New Zealander, after Raymond Strange in January 1902, to perform this feat. Hotter's most successful first-class season was 1996–97, when he took 30 wickets at an average of 21.36. During the season he took his best innings figures of 6 for 69 against Otago, and his best match figures of 11 for 125 against Northern Districts. Since his playing days ended, Hotter has had a career in sports coaching. New Plymouth
New Plymouth ( mi, Ngāmotu) is the major city of the Taranaki region on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand. Raymond Strange
Raymond Brackley Strange (27 October 1878 – 17 September 1962) was a New Zealand cricketer. He played in nine first-class matches for Canterbury from 1901 to 1904. He later lived in Australia. Life and career Born in Christchurch, Strange took a wicket with his first ball in first-class cricket: in his second match, he ended Hawke's Bay's first innings by bowling the last batsman, Tom Dent, with his only delivery. Not until the 1988–89 season did another New Zealander ( Stephen Hotter) take a wicket with his first ball in first-class cricket. Strange was only an occasional bowler. He played as a batsman, and made his highest score of 52 against Wellington in January 1904. He was selected to represent South Island against North Island later that month, when he failed as an opening batsman but took four wickets in South Island's narrow victory. Netball New Zealand is the national body which oversees, promotes and manages netball in New Zealand, including the Silver Ferns. In 2019, 137,713 players were registered with Netball New Zealand, the governing body for organised netball in the country. New Zealand National Netball Team
The New Zealand national netball team, commonly known as the Silver Ferns, represent New Zealand in international netball. The team take their nickname from the Silver Tree Fern (''Cyathea dealbata''), which is an emblem for many New Zealand sports teams. Northern Districts Men's Cricket Team
The Northern Districts men's cricket team are one of six New Zealand first-class cricket teams that make up New Zealand Cricket. They are based in the northern half of the North Island of New Zealand (excluding Auckland). They compete in the Plunket Shield first-class competition, the Ford Trophy domestic one-day competition and the Men's Super Smash T20 competition as the Northern Brave. The T20 team was previously known as the Northern Knights until the 2021–22 season, when both the men's and women's teams were rebranded under the same name. Otago Cricket Team
The Otago cricket team, nicknamed the Volts since the 1997–98 season, are a New Zealand first-class cricket team which first played representative cricket in 1864. The team represents the Otago, Southland and North Otago regions of New Zealand's South Island. Their main governing board is the Otago Cricket Association which is one of six major associations that make up New Zealand Cricket. The team plays most of its home games at the University Oval in Dunedin, but occasionally plays games at the Events Centre in Queenstown, Queen's Park Ground in Invercargill and Molyneux Park in Alexandra. Ken Rutherford (cricketer)
Kenneth Robert Rutherford (born 26 October 1965) is a former New Zealand cricketer who enjoyed a ten-year career with the national team, and was captain for a period in the 1990s. He is the 50th ODI cap for New Zealand. Family Rutherford's elder brother Ian Rutherford also played first-class cricket as a batsman for Otago from 1974–75 to 1983–84. The brothers played in the same Otago team in 1982–83 and 1983–84. Rutherford's eldest son Hamish Rutherford made his Test debut for New Zealand against England in March 2013, scoring 171. Domestic career Ken Rutherford played for Kings High School first XI in Dunedin. He made the team in his third form on the Monday before he officially started at school.
