Stephen Dixon (author)
Stephen Dixon (born Stephen Bruce Ditchik; June 6, 1936 – November 6, 2019) was an American author of novels and short stories. Life and career Dixon was born on June 6, 1936 in Manhattan, New York. He was the fifth of seven children of Florence Leder, a beauty queen, chorus girl on Broadway, and interior decorator, and Abraham M. Ditchik. He graduated from the City College of New York in 1958 and was a faculty member of Johns Hopkins University. Before becoming a full-time writer, Dixon worked a plethora of odd jobs ranging from bus driver to bartender. In his early 20s he worked as a journalist and in radio, interviewing such political figures as John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon and Nikita Khrushchev. Dixon was nominated for the National Book Award twice, in 1991 for ''Frog'' and in 1995 for ''Interstate''. Stephen Brian Dixon (born 12 July 1958) is a former English cricketer. Dixon was a left-handed batsman who bowled slow left-arm orthodox. He was born in Bolton, Lancashire. Dixon first appeared in county cricket for the Lancashire Second XI, making 3 Minor Counties Championship appearances, spread over 1977 and 1978. Dixon made his debut for Norfolk in the 1986 MCCA Knockout Trophy against Lincolnshire. Dixon played Minor counties cricket for Norfolk from 1986 to 1993, which included 42 Minor Counties Championship matches and 14 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches. He made his List A debut against Yorkshire in the 1990 NatWest Trophy. Stephen Dixon (ice Hockey)
Stephen Dixon (born September 7, 1985) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre currently playing for Glasgow Clan of the EIHL, whom he joined in 2022. Playing career A first round pick for Cape Breton Screaming Eagles (QMJHL) in the 2001 Midget Draft, the Halifax native played his entire junior career with Cape Breton, despite being traded to the Val-d'Or Foreurs before the start of the 2005 season. Dixon was drafted in the seventh round, 229th overall, by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He played all 80 games with the Wilkes-Barre Scranton penguins for the 2005–2006 and 2006–2007 season. The Penguins traded him to the Anaheim Ducks on June 23, 2007, in exchange for Tim Brent. He was assigned to the Portland Pirates. Dixon played in the KHL-team Amur Khabarovsk in the season 2010–2011. Early life He studied performing arts at the Victoria University of Manchester, graduating in the same class as Rik Mayall. He worked as an actor for many years, taking minor roles in films like ''Privates on Parade'' and on television shows including ''The Young Ones (TV series), The Young Ones'' and ''The Krypton Factor''.
