Stephen Conway (property Developer)
Stephen Stuart Solomon Conway (born February 1948) is a British property developer, the founder, chairman and CEO of Galliard Homes, London's largest privately owned residential property developer. Early life Conway was born and grew up in Bow, London, Bow, London. Career Conway trained as a banker, before shifting to property in the 1980s and starting a company that was later acquired by Frogmore, for whom he then worked until he and John Black founded Galliard Homes in 1992. In 2015, he had an estimated net worth of £270 million. Personal life He lives with his wife Hilary Conway in Marylebone, London. His son David Conway (born 1976) is a director of Galliard Homes. Bow, London
Bow () is an area of East London within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It is primarily a built-up and mostly residential area and is east of Charing Cross. It was in the traditional county of Middlesex but became part of the County of London following the passing of the Local Government Act 1888. "Bow" is an abbreviation of the medieval name Stratford-at-Bow, in which "Bow" refers to the bowed bridge built here in the early 12th century. Bow contains parts of both Victoria Park and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Old Ford and Fish Island are localities within Bow, but Bromley-by-Bow (historically and officially just "Bromley") immediately to the south, is a separate district. Galliard Homes is a British residential property developer based in Loughton. Operating across London and the Home Counties, Galliard Homes is the capital's largest privately owned residential property developer. History Galliard Homes was founded in 1992, by Stephen Conway, who is still its chairman and stepped down as CEO in 2017. In 1993, Galliard Homes purchased the completed Papermill Wharf. Galliard's Victorian conversion, Burrells Wharf followed in 1994, including a statue of engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Further developments in the Docklands include Great Jubilee Wharf, in Wapping, and Millennium Quay. In 2011, together with Frogmore, Galliard acquired a site on Chiltern Street in Marylebone and began developing apartments, now known as The Chilterns. Marylebone
Marylebone (usually , also , ) is a district in the West End of London, in the City of Westminster. Oxford Street, Europe's busiest shopping street, forms its southern boundary. An ancient parish and latterly a metropolitan borough, it merged with the boroughs of Westminster and Paddington to form the new City of Westminster in 1965. Marylebone station lies two miles north-west of Charing Cross. History Marylebone was originally an Ancient Parish formed to serve the manors (landholdings) of Lileston (in the west, which gives its name to modern Lisson Grove) and Tyburn in the east. The parish is likely to have been in place since at least the twelfth century and will have used the boundaries of the pre-existing manors.
