Stephen Barrett (diplomat)
Sir Stephen Jeremy Barrett (born 4 December 1931) is a British retired diplomat who was ambassador to Czechoslovakia and Poland. Career Barrett was educated at Westminster School and Christ Church, Oxford. He joined the Foreign Office (later the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, FCO) in 1955 and served in Cyprus, Berlin, Helsinki, Prague and Ankara. He was briefly Principal Private Secretary to the Foreign Secretary in 1975. He was head of the British Interests Section at the Swedish Embassy in Tehran in 1981, Assistant Under-Secretary at the FCO 1981–84, Ambassador to Czechoslovakia 1985–88 and Ambassador to Poland 1988–91. Queen's Birthday Honours
The Birthday Honours, in some Commonwealth realms, mark the reigning British monarch's official birthday by granting various individuals appointment into national or dynastic orders or the award of decorations and medals. The honours are presented by the monarch or a viceregal representative. The Birthday Honours are one of two annual honours lists, along with the New Year Honours. All royal honours are published in the relevant gazette. History Honours have been awarded with few exceptions on the sovereign's birthday since at least 1860, during the reign of Queen Victoria. Michael Llewellyn-Smith
Sir Michael John Llewellyn-Smith (born 25 April 1939) is a retired British diplomat and academic. He served as Ambassador to Poland from 1991 to 1996 and Ambassador to Greece from 1996 to 1999. He is visiting professor at the Centre for Hellenic Studies, King's College London. Early life Llewellyn-Smith was born in 1939. He was educated at Wellington College, a private school in Crowthorne, Berkshire. He attended New College, Oxford, where he studied classics, ancient history and philosophy. Diplomatic career Llewellyn-Smith joined Her Majesty's Diplomatic Service in 1970. On 29 March 1980, he was appointed Consul-General at Athens. John Rich (born January 7, 1974) is an American country music singer-songwriter. From 1992 to 1998, he was a member of the country band Lonestar, in which he played bass guitar and alternated with Richie McDonald as lead vocalist. After departing from the band in 1998, he embarked on a solo career on BNA Records in the late 1990s, releasing two singles for the label and recording ''Underneath the Same Moon'', which was not released until 2006. In 2001, he self-released ''Rescue Me'', an album he was inspired to record by a cancer patient named Katie Darnell.
