Stephanie White De Goede
Stephanie White was the first captain of the Canada women's national rugby union team in 1987, co-captained the national team at the first Women's Rugby World Cup in 1991, captained the team at the second World Cup in 1994, and also captained the first participating Canada women's national rugby sevens team in the Hong Kong Sevens invitational tournament in 1997. Rugby career Between 1987 and 1997, she earned a total of 17 caps for the national team. She also served her community by building women's rugby in Canada alongside being a director of the Alberta Women's Rugby Union and a director of Women's Rugby on the Board of Directors for Alberta Rugby Football Union in the late 1980s. She also sat on the British Columbia Rugby Union Board of Directors, bringing the West Coast Women's Rugby Association into the BCRU in the early 2000s. Hans De Goede
Hans de Goede (born 13 February 1953, in Amsterdam) is a Dutch-born Canadian former rugby union player who played as lock. Career Before his rugby career, de Goede practiced football, playing three games for Victoria Dolphins. Later, at Central Junior High School, he started playing rugby. He later started his club career leading Vic High team to the final of the Howard Russell Cup in 1971. Later he played for James Bay Athletic Association, where he would play for 20 years. He also played for BC Bears at provincial level, of which he was captain, 30 matches for Cardiff RFC in Wales and for Vancouver Island Crimson Tide at regional level between 1972 and 1987. As rugby union was an amateur sport at the time, de Goede earned extra money at "You Think You're Tough?" boxing tournaments. Maria Gallo
Dr. Maria Eugenia Gallo (born 21 September 1977) is a Canadian rugby player with 55 caps including the 2002 and 2006 Women's Rugby World Cup. A multi-talented athlete, Gallo was also a member of Canada's National Bobsleigh Team for two years (2003–04). She was inducted in the Rugby Canada Hall of Fame in 2018 in the player category. Gallo is the second woman to be inducted into the Rugby Canada Hall of Fame. Gallo is considered one of the top ten North American women rugby union players. Her team nickname is "the Tank". Gallo represented Ontario winning the 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000 national championship. Ruth Hellerud-Brown (born September 22, 1957) is a Canadian former rugby union player. She captained the Canadian team at the inaugural 1991 Rugby World Cup in Wales. Background Hellrud-Brown studied dietetics at the University of British Columbia. She first started playing the game in 1979. She is considered the architect of Women's rugby union in Canada.
