Bobo Stenson
Bobo Stenson (born Bo Gustav Stenson; 4 August 1944) is a Swedish jazz pianist. The Bobo Stenson Trio, formed in collaboration with Anders Jormin (bass) and Jon Fält (drums), has been in existence for four decades. Career Stenson studied with Werner Wolf for 15 years, starting at the age of 8. In 1963, Stenson stepped up from the local scene in Västerås to begin playing frequently in Stockholm, where he accompanied a long line of visiting American players including Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz and Gary Burton. He also worked closely with Don Cherry from the beginning of the trumpeter's residency in Scandinavia. The 1970s was an intensive period for Stenson, playing in many groups, amongst them the long-standing band Rena Rama with Palle Danielsson, and a trio with Arild Andersen and Jon Christensen; later also with Jan Garbarek. Tyler Stenson is a singer/songwriter of folk music from Portland, Oregon. He was born in Lander, Wyoming in 1981 and raised in Oregon. From 2000 to 2005, Stenson was the front man and chief singer/songwriter for the pop-rock group ''Rhetoric Tuesday'' based in Eugene, Oregon. From 2005 to 2007, he acted as front man for the Portland-based folk-rock band ''Lander''. He has been a solo singer/songwriter since ''Lander'' dissolved in 2007. Dernell Renauld Stenson (June 17, 1978 – November 5, 2003) was an American professional baseball outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Cincinnati Reds. He batted and threw left-handed. Baseball career The youngest of eight children, Dernell was the son of lumberjack James Stenson and his wife Cora. He starred in baseball at LaGrange High School in LaGrange, Georgia, the same high school attended by MLB outfielder Mike Cameron. There, Stenson attracted the attention of scouts for the Boston Red Sox, and he was selected in the third round with the ninety-first overall pick of the 1996 Major League Baseball Draft. Stenson advanced quickly through the low minor leagues before reaching a plateau at Triple-A. Enda Stenson is a former Gaelic football referee, politician and current chairman of the Leitrim County Board. Career Stenson's career as a referee spanned 33 years. In this time he refereed three finals of the Connacht Senior Football Championship. Stenson also refereed the final of the 1994 Leitrim Senior Football Championship between Allen Gaels and Aughawillan. The game's final play proved contentious as Martin McGowan of Allen Gaels, who was playing with a dislocated spine, stood to take a free. William Stenson (1770–1861) was a mining engineer born in Coleorton, Leicestershire. Background Little is currently known about Stenson's background. Detail of his parentage remains unknown and neither is it known where he would have received his training as an engineer. It is known that he was a non-conformist, being buried in the old Baptist cemetery at Hugglescote and also that he is said to have been born at Coleorton, Leicestershire. The connection of his family with Coleorton is supported by a baptismal entry for one William Stenson of Coleorton Moor which occurs in the register of Packington Baptist Church for 1770, though this would relate to an adult baptism and therefore not that of Stenson the engineer. Frederick "Fred" Stenson (born December 22, 1951) is a Canadian writer of historical fiction and nonfiction relating to the Canadian West. In addition to his published work, Stenson has been a faculty member at The Banff Centre, where he has directed the Wired Writing Studio for eleven years. He is also a documentary film writer, with over 140 credits. He writes a regular wit column for Alberta Views Magazine. His 2000 novel ''The Trade'' was shortlisted for Canada's Giller Prize. Both ''The Trade'' and his 2003 novel ''Lightning'' won the Grant MacEwan Author's Prize for best Alberta book of the year. Gerard Patrick Stenson (born 30 December 1959) is an English former footballer who played as a midfielder for Port Vale, Morecambe, and Prescot Cables in the late 1970s. Career Stenson played for Everton before joining Third Division side Port Vale in March 1978 for a £3,000 fee. The club were relegated that season under the stewardship of Bobby Smith.
