Stellenbosch F.C.
Stellenbosch Football Club is a South African professional football club founded in 2016 following the relocation of Vasco da Gama F.C. to Stellenbosch, Western Cape. It is the first Premier Soccer League (PSL) team to be based in Stellenbosch, and plays home games at Danie Craven Stadium and Idas Valley Stadium. History The club was formed in August 2016 when the Premier Soccer League Executive Committee approved the application from National First Division side, Vasco Da Gama for a name change following the relocation from Parow to thStellenbosch Academy of Sport(SAS) in Stellenbosch. Danie Craven Stadium
The Danie Craven Stadium is a rugby union stadium in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Built in 1979, it is part of the Stellenbosch University's sport facilities. The stadium was named after rugby doyen and Springbok scrum half Danie Craven. The stadium holds 16,000 people. The stadium was built on a portion of the old Coetsenburg Estate which was founded by Dirk Coetsee in 1682 after a grant of land from the Dutch Governor of the Cape Colony Simon van der Stel. The Danie Craven Stadium has mostly been used for rugby matches. The stadium played host to several games of the Varsity Cup, South Africa's premier inter-university rugby tournament since 2008. In the first three years of the Varsity Cup (2008–2010) the final also took place at the stadium. Next Gen Cup or Next Generation Cup officially known as Reliance Foundation Premier League Next Gen Cup is a youth football tournament organised by the Premier League in collaboration with Indian Super League and South African Premier Division, as part of the Premier League Youth Games initiative.
