Stein Slyngstad
Stein Slyngstad (born 25 November 1960) is a Norwegian cultural administrator. He hails from Skui, and holds a siv.øk. degree. He was the director of the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra and the Stavanger Konserthus 1992 to 1997, manager of the Henie-Onstad Art Centre 1997 to 2001, director of the Norwegian Film Fund from 2001 to 2008 and the Norwegian Archive, Library and Museum Authority since 2009. Siviløkonom (literally "civil economist") is an academic degree issued within the field of business administration. It consists of a 3 year bachelor's degree followed by a two years masters degree and is also a professional title in Norway (with corresponding titles in Denmark and Sweden, see below under "See also"), obtained after the total of 5 years of studies. The title is protected and can only be used by persons having met certain qualifications as directed by the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research. Stavanger Symphony Orchestra
The Stavanger Symphony Orchestra ( no, Stavanger Symfoniorkester, SSO) is a symphony orchestra based in Stavanger, Norway. The SSO principal venue is the Stavanger Concert Hall (Stavanger konserthus), performing in the Fartein Valen concert hall. History The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation founded the orchestra in 1938 as the ''Stavanger musikerforenings orkester'', for radio broadcasts. The orchestra's first artistic leader was the violinist Gunnar Knudsen, from 1938 to 1945. In 1965, the orchestra's name was changed to the ''Symfoniorkestret i Stavanger'', and again in 1982 to its present name. Past artistic leaders of the orchestra have included Susanna Mälkki (2002–2005), and more recently the American conductor Steven Sloane (2007–2013). Christian Vásquez was chief conductor from 2013 to 2019. Stavanger Konserthus
Stavanger Konserthus or ''Stavanger Concert Hall'' is a concert hall in Stavanger, Norway. It was officially opened by Crown Prince Haakon on 15 September 2012. The financing of the building was shared by the municipality of Stavanger, the county of Rogaland, the Norwegian government and private sponsors at a cost of 1.225 billion Norwegian kroner. The concert hall has two halls, an orchestra hall and a multi-purpose hall with excellent acoustics, great foyer areas out to the seaside and a large outdoor amphitheater. It can be arranged symphony concert in one hall and a rock concert in the other - at the same time. Architects were RATIO Arkitekter AS. Henie-Onstad Art Centre
The Henie Onstad Kunstsenter is an art museum located at Høvikodden in Bærum municipality in Viken county, Norway. It is situated on a headland jutting into the Oslofjord, approximately southwest of Oslo. History The artcentre was founded in 1968 by World and Olympic champion figure skater Sonja Henie (1912–1969) and her husband, shipping magnate and art collector Niels Onstad (1909–1978). Their private collection of contemporary art, total 110 images, as well as funds for construction and operation of the centre was donated by the couple in 1961, when the Sonja Henie and Niels Onstad Foundation was created.
