Stefano Sertorelli
Stefano Sertorelli (24 December 1911 – 17 December 1994) was an Italian soldier and skier. Biography Sertorello, son of Cantoniere Costante Sertorelli (d. 1922) and his wife Maria (1880–1956) was born in Bormio, Lombardy. The family was a real skiing family, for example his brother Erminio (1901–1979) was a successful cross-country skier, and his brother Giacinto (1914–1938), who died in an accident during a downhill race in 1938, was a successful alpine skier. Stefano Sertorelli by himself served at the mountain warfare school of the Italian Army called ''Scuola Militare di Alpinismo'' (today: Centro Addestramento Alpino), which was founded in 1934. Bormio
Bormio ( lmo, Bormi, rm, italic=yes, , german: Worms im Veltlintal) is a town and ''comune'' with a population of about 4,100 located in the Province of Sondrio, Lombardy region of the Alps in northern Italy. The centre of the upper Valtellina valley, it is a popular winter sports resort. It was the site of the Alpine World Ski Championships in 1985 and 2005, and annually hosts the Alpine Ski World Cup. Livigno (; local lmo, Livígn ; german: Luwin) is a town, ''comune'' and a special-administered territory in the province of Sondrio, in the region of Lombardy, Italy, located in the Italian Alps, near the Swiss border. History Livigno's first settlers were probably shepherds during the Middle Ages. The first documents called this area . The name possibly comes from an old German word for "avalanche" which have always been frequent in the valley – the last avalanche to hit the village was in 1951, causing seven deaths and damage to a dozen houses.
