Stefan Tymkewycz
Stefan Tymkewycz (born Abbeyhill, 18 September 1959) is a Scottish National Party (SNP) politician, and a former Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Lothians region. He was elected during the 2007 election for the Lothians region. Tymkewycz is also a former councillor for Craigentinny/Duddingston ward on the City of Edinburgh Council, and agreed not to take his allowance for that job while he was an MSP. Formerly a police officer, he now runs his own property business in Edinburgh. Shirley-Anne Somerville
Shirley-Anne Somerville (born 2 September 1974) is a Scottish politician who has served as Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills since 2021. A member of the Scottish National Party (SNP), she has been the Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for Dunfermline since 2016, having previously served as an additional member for the Lothians region from 2007 to 2011. Born in Kirkcaldy, Somerville attended the University of Strathclyde, and later the University of Stirling, earning a BA (Hons) in Economics and Politics, and a Diploma in Housing studies respectively. After graduating, she worked as a Policy and Public Affairs Officer, and in 2006 she attended the Queen Margaret University. In the 2007 Scottish election, she was an SNP candidate for the Edinburgh Central constituency, but failed to win the seat, coming third. This is a list of members (MSPs) returned to the third Scottish Parliament at the 2007 Scottish Parliament election. Of the 129 MSPs, 73 were elected from first past the post constituencies with a further 56 members being returned from eight regions, each electing seven MSPs as a form of mixed member proportional representation. The City of Edinburgh Council is the local government authority for the city of Edinburgh, capital of Scotland. Abbeyhill
Abbeyhill is an area of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. Abbeyhill is one of the oldest parts of the city, taking its name from Holyrood Abbey, a major historic religious site. The main east-west thoroughfare through the area is London Road, laid in the 1820s as part of the Calton development of the New Town, Edinburgh, New Town. This superseded an older road to Haddington, East Lothian, Haddington which still skirts the north side of the Holyrood Park. As with many other parts of the city, the area has varying definitions. Craigentinny/Duddingston (Edinburgh Ward)
Craigentinny/Duddingston is one of the seventeen wards used to elect members of the City of Edinburgh Council. Established in 2007 along with the other wards, it currently elects four Councillors. The ward's territory lies to the east of the city centre, with the Firth of Forth providing its eastern boundary and Holyrood Park occupying most of its western half. As its name suggests, it covers the communities of Craigentinny and Duddingston, as well as Jock's Lodge, Lochend, Meadowbank, Meadowfield, Mountcastle, Northfield, Piershill, Restalrig and Willowbrae. Originally returning three members, a minor boundary change in 2017 saw the loss of Abbeyhill, Dumbiedykes and Durham neighbourhoods to three other adjoining wards; however the population increased slightly due to the addition of streets south of Restalrig Railway Path (including two tower blocks) and housebuilding in other areas, and due to this an additional councillor was allocated. 2007 Scottish Parliament Election
The 2007 Scottish Parliament election was held on Thursday 3 May 2007 to elect members to the Scottish Parliament. It was the third general election to the devolved Scottish Parliament since it was created in 1999. Local elections in Scotland fell on the same day. The Scottish National Party emerged as the largest party with 47 seats, closely followed by the incumbent Scottish Labour Party with 46 seats. The Scottish Conservatives won 17 seats, the Scottish Liberal Democrats 16 seats, the Scottish Greens 2 seats and one Independent (Margo MacDonald) was also elected. The SNP initially approached the Liberal Democrats for a coalition government, but the Lib Dems turned them down. Ultimately, the Greens agreed to provide the numbers to vote in an SNP minority government, with SNP leader Alex Salmond as First Minister.
