Gary Stefan
Gary Stefan (born June 23, 1959) is a retired ice hockey player and coach. He played for Richmond Flyers in 1980–1981 and Streatham Redskins between 1981 and 1987 before joining Slough Jets, whom he played for until he retired at the end of the 1998–99 season. He also played for the Great Britain national ice hockey team at three world championships in 1990, 1991 and 1992. He was inducted to the British Ice Hockey Hall of Fame in 2000. Greg Stefan
Gregory Steven Stefan (born February 11, 1961, in Brantford, Ontario) is a retired professional ice hockey goaltender in the National Hockey League and currently serves as the goaltending coach for the Flint Firebirds in the Ontario Hockey League. Biography As a youth, Stefan played in the 1974 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from Brantford which included Wayne Gretzky and Len Hachborn. Drafted in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft by the Detroit Red Wings, Stefan became known for using his stick to clear skaters in front of the net, many times receiving penalties, and sometimes suspensions. He is also known for having played Pee Wee level hockey on the same team as Wayne Gretzky. He played in 299 games, winning 115 of them, before suffering an eventual career-ending knee injury in a game against the Edmonton Oilers. Josef Stefan ( sl, Jožef Štefan; 24 March 1835 – 7 January 1893) was an ethnic Carinthian Slovene physicist, mathematician, and poet of the Austrian Empire. Life and work Stefan was born in an outskirt village of St. Peter (Slovene: ; today a district of Klagenfurt) in the Austrian Empire (now in Austria) to father Aleš (Aleksander) Stefan, born in 1805, and mother Marija Startinik, born 1815. His parents, both ethnic Slovenes, married when Josef was eleven. The Stefans were a modest family. His father was a milling assistant and his mother served as a maidservant. Stefan's mother died in 1863 and his father in 1872. Josef was their only child. Stefan attended elementary school in Klagenfurt, where he showed his talent. Karl Stefan (March 1, 1884 – October 2, 1951) was a Czech-American politician, newspaper editor, publisher, and radio commentator from Nebraska. A member of the Republican Party, he represented Nebraska's 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1935 to 1951. Early life He was born on a farm in Žebrákov, Kingdom of Bohemia (now Czech Republic), on March 1, 1884. In 1885 he moved with his parents to Omaha, Nebraska. Verena Stefan (3 October 1947 – 29 November 2017) was a Swiss-born feminist and writer living in Germany, later in Canada. She was born in Bern and moved to Berlin in 1968 to become a physical therapist and study sociology at the Free University of Berlin. Her first book ''Häutungen'' (Shedding) (1975) was based on her experiences living in Berlin. In 1980, she published a book of poems ''Mit Füßen, mit Flügeln'' (With feet, with wings).
