Steer (Missy Higgins Song)
"Steer" is the first single from Missy Higgins' second album, ''On a Clear Night''. The song was released in Australia on 14 April 2007 and became the most-added track that same week. Higgins stated that the song was "about steers" and that she wrote it after overlooking the southern celestial hemisphere from a bay in Western Australia. The song has instrument backings of acoustic guitar and drums. The single reached the number-one spot on the ARIA Charts, Australian Singles Chart in the first week of its release, dethroning Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend (Avril Lavigne song), Girlfriend" for a single week. It became Higgins' second number-one single, after 2004's "Scar (song), Scar", from her first album ''The Sound of White''. At the end of 2007, the song appeared at number 60 on the Australian year-end chart, becoming the second lowest-selling number-one hit of the year (that didn't reach number one in 2006), behind "2 Hearts (Kylie Minogue song), 2 Hearts" by Kylie Minogue. Melissa Morrison Higgins (born 19 August 1983), known professionally as Missy Higgins, is an Australian singer-songwriter and musician. Her Australian number-one albums are ''The Sound of White'' (2004), ''On a Clear Night'' (2007) and ''The Ol' Razzle Dazzle'' (2012), and her singles include "Scar (song), Scar", "Steer (Missy Higgins song), Steer" and "Where I Stood".
