Stedelijk Gymnasium Leiden is a gymnasium in the Netherlands. Located in Leiden, it is one of the oldest schools in the Netherlands. Its history dates back to the Middle Ages. Gymnasium (school)
''Gymnasium'' (and variations of the word) is a term in various European languages for a secondary school that prepares students for higher education at a university. It is comparable to the US English term '' preparatory high school''. Before the 20th century, the gymnasium system was a widespread feature of educational systems throughout many European countries. Herman Boerhaave
Herman Boerhaave (, 31 December 1668 – 23 September 1738Underwood, E. Ashworth. "Boerhaave After Three Hundred Years." ''The British Medical Journal'' 4, no. 5634 (1968): 820–25. https://www.jstor.org/stable/20395297.) was a Dutch botanist, chemist, Christian humanist, and physician of European fame. He is regarded as the founder of clinical teaching and of the modern academic hospital and is sometimes referred to as "the father of physiology," along with Venetian physician Santorio Santorio (1561–1636). Boerhaave introduced the quantitative approach into medicine, along with his pupil Albrecht von Haller (1708–1777) and is best known for demonstrating the relation of symptoms to lesions. Erik Falkenburg
Erik Falkenburg (born 5 May 1988) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder. Club career Born in Leiden, he came through the youth system at and made his professional debut for Sparta Rotterdam on 23 January 2008 against PSV. At Sparta he played alongside future international players Kevin Strootman and Nick Viergever. He and Viergever left the club for AZ in 2010. Not a regular starter at AZ, he joined NEC on loan in January 2013 and he was sent on loan the next season to Go Ahead Eagles. After his contract with AZ expired in summer 2014, Falkenburg moved to NAC, who surprisingly beat Cambuur, Go Ahead and Willem II for his signature despite being in financial trouble. A composer is a person who writes music. The term is especially used to indicate composers of Western classical music, or those who are composers by occupation. Rudolf George Escher
Rudolf Escher (8 January 1912 in Amsterdam – 17 March 1980 in De Koog) was a Dutch composer and music theorist. He left compositions for chamber orchestra and orchestra, vocal and one electronic composition. Escher was also a poet, painter and writer. A mathematician is someone who uses an extensive knowledge of mathematics in their work, typically to solve mathematical problems. Tatyana Pavlovna Ehrenfest
Tatyana Pavlovna Ehrenfest, later van Aardenne-Ehrenfest, (Vienna, October 28, 1905 – Dordrecht, November 29, 1984) was a Dutch mathematician. She was the daughter of Paul Ehrenfest (1880–1933) and Tatyana Alexeyevna Afanasyeva (1876–1964). Under her married name, Tanja van Aardenne-Ehrenfest, she is known for her contributions to De Bruijn sequences, low-discrepancy sequences, and the BEST theorem. Education Tatyana Ehrenfest was born in Vienna and spent her childhood in St Petersburg. In 1912 the Ehrenfests moved to Leiden where her father succeeded H.A. Rudolf Van Eecke
Rudolf (or Rudolph) van Eecke (23 October 1886, Buitenzorg, Java – 24 December 1975, Leiden) was a Dutch entomologist. He attended the gymnasium in Leiden. In 1912 he married Wilhelmina Henriëtte Petré then in 1927 Margaretha Emma Julia Hettyey. A disc jockey, more commonly abbreviated as DJ, is a person who plays recorded music for an audience. Types of DJs include Radio personality, radio DJs (who host programs on music radio stations), club DJs (who work at a nightclub or music festival), mobile DJs (who are hired to work at public and private events such as weddings, parties, or festivals), and turntablism, turntablists (who use record players, usually turntables, to manipulate sounds on phonograph records).
