Cwmfelinfach
Cwmfelinfach is a small village located in the Sirhowy valley of south-east Wales. It is part of the district of Caerphilly within the historic boundaries of Monmouthshire. It is located north of Wattsville, about 5 miles north of the nearest town Risca, and south of Blackwood. To the east the valley is bordered by the hills of Pen-y-Trwyn (1,028 ft / 313 m). To the west is Mynydd y Grug (1,132 ft / 345 m). Cwmfelinfach can be translated from Welsh as "''valley of the little mill''". History The village was a small hamlet until the late 19th century; the majority of housing is therefore traditional terraced housing from the early 20th century. A map of 1885 showns the Melin (mill) and the Welsh Calvinistic Methodist chapel, Capel y Babell. The grave of William Thomas (Islwyn), a 19th-century poet in the Welsh language, can be found here. Montagu Slater
Charles Montagu Slater (23 September 1902 – 19 December 1956) was an English poet, novelist, playwright, journalist, critic and librettist. Life One of five children, Slater was born in the small mining port of Millom, Cumberland facing Lancashire across the estuary of Duddon sands. His father Seth Slater, a Wesleyan lay preacher, was a tailor and ran the town's post office. Both Montagu and his closest sister Rosa won scholarships to universities from the local school. He attended Magdalen College, Oxford and she University College London. Upon graduation, he became a reporter for the ''Liverpool Post''. At Millom and Liverpool, Slater wrote verse which he valued, often linking northern port-life to classical legend and philosophy. Much survives although little has yet been published. ''Stay Down'' is the fifth studio album by the American, Chicago-based pop punk group, Smoking Popes. Released on Curb Appeal Records on August 5, 2008, it was the band's first studio album since their 2005 reunion and their first album of original material since 1997's ''Destination Failure''. It's the only Smoking Popes album to feature drummer Ryan Chavez, who joined the band in 2006. Release On May 16, 2008, "If You Don't Care" was posed on the band's Myspace profile. Between June and August 2008, the band went on a US tour. Shortly after the release of the album Curb Appeal Records folded and the album went out of print. The album's troubled release influenced the band's decision to find an established label and tour heavily behind their follow-up album, 2011's ''This Is Only A Test.''
