Static-X is an American industrial metal band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1994. The line-up has fluctuated over the years, but was long-held constant with band founder, frontman, vocalist and rhythm guitarist Wayne Static until his death in 2014. The band was founded by Static and original drummer Ken Jay. They rose to fame with their 1999 debut album ''Wisconsin Death Trip (album), Wisconsin Death Trip'' where their heavy industrial metal sound attracted attention within the burgeoning nu metal movement of the late 1990s, with the album eventually going Music recording sales certification, platinum in the United States. Machine (Static-X Album)
''Machine'' is the second studio album by American industrial metal band Static-X, released on May 22, 2001, and recorded at Studio 508 (Los Angeles). When compared to the band's other albums, ''Machine'' features more electronics and industrial effects, and more screamed vocals from Wayne Static. It was also the final Static-X album for eighteen years to feature drummer Ken Jay (although he received songwriting credits on the band's subsequent third album), and the last for four years to feature lead guitarist Koichi Fukuda, who, despite having already left Static-X, was credited as a keyboardist on the album. Wisconsin Death Trip (album)
''Wisconsin Death Trip'' is the debut studio album by American industrial metal band Static-X, released on March 23, 1999, by Warner Bros. Records. The band was formed after lead singer Wayne Static and drummer Ken Jay met at a Virgin Records store in Chicago. After being introduced by the Smashing Pumpkins lead singer Billy Corgan, the two decided to head out west to California to enlist a lead guitarist and bassist. Once in California, Koichi Fukuda became guitarist, and not long after, they discovered Californian Tony Campos to complete the lineup as their bassist. Warner Bros. Records discovered the band in California and signed them in February 1998. ''Wisconsin Death Trip'' peaked at number 107 on the US ''Billboard'' 200 and number one on the Top Heatseekers chart, and was certified platinum by the RIAA in 2001. ''Cannibal'' is the fifth studio album by American industrial metal band Static-X, released on April 3, 2007. This is the first album from the band to contain guitar solos; every song with the exception of "Goat" has one. Wayne Richard Wells (November 4, 1965 – November 1, 2014), known professionally as Wayne Static, was an American musician, best known as the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, keyboardist, and primary lyricist for the industrial metal band Static-X, of which he was the only constant member until his death in 2014. He also released a solo album, '' Pighammer'', in 2011. Static was recognizable for his unusual hairstyle; his hair was held up in a vertical position, a process that took about 20 minutes to complete (45 minutes, according to his mother). Tod Rex Salvador (born June 29, 1965), known professionally as Tripp Eisen, is an American musician best known as the former guitarist of industrial metal band Static-X. He is the current guitarist for the band Face Without Fear, and a former member of Dope, Murderdolls, and Roughhouse. Career Dope (1997–2000) Dope was formed in 1997, when Eisen met with brothers Edsel and Simon Dope. Eisen brought in friend Preston Nash to play drums, and the band worked the New York City club circuit. In 1998, Dope was signed to Flip/Sony records, and Eisen moved from bass guitar to lead guitar, bringing in Acey Slade—who had first referred Eisen to Dope a few years earlier—to play bass. Tony Campos
Antonio Campos (born March 8, 1973) is an American musician. He is the current bassist for the industrial metal bands Static-X and Fear Factory and the vocalist and bassist for the extreme metal band Asesino. He has previously played with Prong (band), Prong, Soulfly, Ministry (band), Ministry, and Possessed (band), Possessed. Following the death of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Wayne Static and the resurrection of Static-X, Campos is the longest-serving member of the group and the only one to appear on every album. Career Campos was part of the original lineup of Static-X, playing bass and performing backing vocals on all of the group's studio albums. Along with Wayne Static, he was one of the legal owners of the Static-X name, even though he did not participate in the band's temporary reunion from 2012 to 2013. ''Start a War'' is the fourth studio album by American industrial metal band Static-X, released on June 14 2005. A special version was shipped with an additional DVD titled ''X-Rated''. It is the last album for 15 years to feature Ulrich Wild as a producer and/or a mixer, until ''Project Regeneration Vol. 1, Project: Regeneration Vol. 1'' in 2020. Album information This is the first studio album with drumming provided by Nick Oshiro, and the second and last album that guitarist Tripp Eisen wrote and performed on. The album marks the return of former guitarist Koichi Fukuda, who helped with the programming, and according to Static-X's online forums, Fukuda completed additional guitar parts in three songs left unfinished by Eisen. ''Cult of Static'' is the sixth studio album by American industrial metal band Static-X. It was released on March 17, 2009 via Reprise Records. The album's first single "Stingwray" was released and made available on the band's MySpace page on February 17, 2009. The album's title is a reference to the die-hard fans who have supported the band for so long. This would be Static-X's last studio album for eleven years, as well as the last to feature drummer Nick Oshiro and founding member and vocalist Wayne Static during his lifetime, though the latter's posthumously released work was included on the band's 2020 album '' Project: Regeneration Vol. 1''. Koichi Fukuda
Koichi Fukuda (born July 1, 1975) is a Japanese musician, best known as the lead guitarist, programmer, keyboardist, and co-founder of the American industrial metal band Static-X; he has been a member of the band three times, initially from 1994 to 2000, again from 2005 to 2010 and since 2018. He was also the former lead guitarist of the bands Drugstore Fanatics and Bellusira. Biography He was present on Static-X's debut album, '' Wisconsin Death Trip'', but left the band prior to the recording of their second album, ''Machine'', citing personal problems due to excessive touring. Kenneth "Ken Jay" Lacey (born June 10, 1966) is an American musician, best known as the original drummer and the co-founder of industrial metal band Static-X. Biography Jay was born in Vermilion County, Illinois. Jay began playing drums early on and had played drums in a couple of metal bands early in his career in central Illinois before heading north to Chicago. Jay was the drummer in Deep Blue Dream, a band that also included Wayne Static and had auditioned at one point for Smashing Pumpkins but was told by Billy Corgan he was "too metal" to be in the band. Dope was founded in 1997 by Edsel and his brother Simon (keyboards) in New York City. Edsel co-produced all of Dope's albums. Andy The Kid
Andrew Cole (born 30 May 1984), better known by his stage name Andy the Kid, is an Australian musician. Biography Cole was raised in Townsville, Australia. He played bass guitar in several Townsville bands before he moved to Los Angeles, United States, in early 2008 to pursue a career in music. He joined Orange County outfit Neo Geo on bass in 2008, embarking on two Vans Warped Tour's with the band in 2010 and 2011 and recorded an album with the band before leaving the group in 2012. After leaving, Cole went on tour with Static-X in 2012.
