He won brief international renown in the early 1960s as the star of Elia Kazan's Academy Award-nominated epic ''America America'', a role which brought him the Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year – Actor, as well as a nomination for Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama. Stathis Psaltis ( el, Στάθης Ψάλτης; 27 February 1951 – 21 April 2017) was a Greek cinema, TV and theatre comic actor. He was best known for starring in many 1980s films, as many as four a year. He has been called "iconic" and a "household name". Early life He was born in Velo, Corinthia where he lived during his childhood until the age of 11, when his family moved to Aigaleo. He studied at the acting school of Kostis Michailidis and finished the law school of the university of Athens. Career He starred in a lot of Greek films and also in theater. Stathis Damianakos
Stathis Damianakos ( el, Στάθης Δαμιανάκος; 1939–2003) is considered one of the most prominent researchers in the fields of agriculture, ethnological and cultural sociology in Greece. Among his most known works are the "Sociology of Rebetiko" and "Paradosi antarsias kai laikos politismos" (Tradition of mutiny and popular culture). Damianakos was a Marxist sociologist and was professor at the University Paris X. In 2002 he was invited as a guest professor in the University of Crete in Rethymnon. Stathis Tavlaridis ( el, Στάθης Ταυλαρίδης; born 25 January 1980) is a Greek former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. Tavlaridis has earned the nickname ''"Taureau"'' in France which means ''"The Bull"'' due to his aggressive style of play. Efstathios Dimitrios Kappos (born July 31, 1979) is a Canadian football (soccer) player, who plays for Agios Dimitrios. Now he plays in a local club in a north suburb of Athens, Neopedelikos.
