Statement (song)
"Statement" is a single by Japanese experimental band Boris. The A-side "Statement" was a preview of things to come on their full-length album ''Smile'', which was released on Diwphalanx Records and Southern Lord Records in 2008. The B-side "Floor Shaker" is an unreleased song from the ''Smile'' sessions exclusive to this single and its own single available free with purchase from the Inoxia Records store; this single version fades out early. The logo on the cover is a tribute to the American black metal band Von, who use the same font and insert the same pentagram into the O. is a Japanese band formed in 1992 in Tokyo and composed of drummer Atsuo, guitarist/bassist Takeshi, and guitarist/keyboardist Wata. All three members contribute vocals. Boris has released more than twenty studio albums on various labels around the world, as well as a wide variety of live albums, compilations, EPs, singles, and collaborative albums. They have collaborated with acts such as Sunn O))), Merzbow, Keiji Haino, and guitarist Michio Kurihara. History Boris was originally a four-piece band with Atsuo on lead vocals, Wata on guitar, Takeshi on bass, and Nagata on drums. Boris / Variations + Live In Japan
''Boris Variations'' is a compilation of previously recorded and re-recorded audio music, as well as live video music by Japanese band, Boris. The CD comprises selections from six Boris full-length releases that generally keep to their 'heavy rock' style, as well as one single B-side ("Floor Shaker" is from the "Statement" single). Five of the 13 songs have been re-recorded. Production credits on the CD are for Boris. Besides the three regular members of the band - Takeshi, Wata and Atsuo - Michio Kurihara also plays guitar on tracks 2, 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12. All songs are composed by Boris, except for track 6, which is by Boris and Michio Kurihara. The DVD is composed of 14 songs and is titled "Live in Japan" on the menu page. Von is an American black metal band formed in 1987 in O'ahu, Hawaii; although they later relocated to San Francisco, California. They are thought to be the first American black metal band, and strongly influenced the second wave of black metal. History Von was allegedly formed in 1987 by Goat, Snake, and Venien (who left the band in 1990, before VON was chosen as the band name). The role and involvement of member "Venien" in the early days of Von have always been very unclear, as no proof that this member was active in the band during that period exists. In late 1990 or early 1991, Kill joined the band as bassist and the trio recorded their '' Satanic Blood'' demo. ''Smile'' is the fourteenth full-length album by Japanese band Boris. It was released through Diwphalanx Records in early 2008 (late 2008 for the live version accordingly), featuring guest musicians Michio Kurihara of Ghost and Stephen O'Malley of Sunn O))), both of whom have collaborated with Boris in the past. Shortly after this initial release, the album was released by American label Southern Lord with a slightly different track listing, different artwork (by Stephen O'Malley), and an almost entirely different sound. The first 3000 copies of this edition include a DVD containing videos for "Statement", "Pink" and "My Neighbor Satan". Notably, this release is the second Boris album to feature vocals on every track (the first, excluding any one-track albums, was ''Amplifier Worship'').
