State Route 221 (California)
State Route 221 (SR 221) is a state highway in the U.S. state of California that runs in and just outside the City of Napa, providing access to Napa Valley College and Napa State Hospital. The highway's southern terminus is with State Route 12 and State Route 29 outside the southeast corner of the city, and its northern terminus is at State Route 121 inside the city. SR 221 forms part of the Napa-Vallejo Highway with SR 29. Route description Route 221 is the northernmost part of the Napa-Vallejo Highway. It is a divided four-lane expressway that serves as an alternate to the nearby Route 29 freeway into Napa from the south. Unlike Route 29, however, 221 provides direct access to Napa Valley College and Napa State Hospital. Napa Valley College, formerly Napa Junior College and Napa Community College, is a public community college in Napa, California. Napa State Hospital is a psychiatric hospital in Napa, California, founded in 1875. It is located along California State Route 221, the Napa- Vallejo Highway, and is one of California's five state hospitals. Napa State Hospital holds civil and forensic patients in a sprawling 138-acre campus. According to a hospital spokesperson, there were 2,338 people employed at the facility during the 2016 to 2017 fiscal year, making it one of the region's largest employers. State Route 12 (SR 12) is a state highway in the U.S. state of California that travels in an east–west direction from State Route 116 in Sebastopol in Sonoma County to State Route 49 just north of San Andreas in Calaveras County. State Route 121 (SR 121) is a state highway in the U.S. state of California. It runs through the Wine Country region of Sonoma and Napa counties. Its southern terminus is at State Route 37 at Sears Point, and its northern terminus is at State Route 128 near Lake Berryessa. SR 121 passes through the Carneros region of the southern Sonoma Valley and Napa Valley. Route description The route begins at SR 37 in Sears Point, and then runs past the Tolay Lake basin and across Tolay Creek near Infineon Raceway.
