State Road 234 (Indiana)
State Road 234 exists in two sections in Indiana. The western portion begins at the Illinois border from a Vermilion County, Illinois, county road. It runs east from there to U.S. Route 136 (US 136) near Jamestown. Much of the route is a scenic, two-lane road with very tight turns. The primary access to Shades State Park is located along SR 234. Its eastern portion goes from the U.S. Route 36/ State Road 67 concurrency in McCordsville, Indiana. The eastern terminus is at an intersection with State Road 38. State Road 109 (SR 109) is a north–south discontinuous State Road in the US state of Indiana. The southern segment of the highway runs from U.S. Route 40 (US 40) in the town of Knightstown north to SR 9 in Anderson. The northern segment of SR 109 runs from US 30 in Columbia City northerly to US 33 in Wolf Lake. The total length of the highway is , including the southern segment which is and the northern segment at . The first usage of the SR 109 designation dates back to 1934 with the original routing being between Columbia City and Wolf Lake. A southern section was added in 1940 between Knightstown and the Hancock–Madison County line. Kennard is a town in Greensboro Township, Henry County, Indiana, United States. The population was 471 at the 2010 census. History Kennard was platted in 1882, and named for Jenkins Kennard. Cyrus Hinshaw helped to found the town and was instrumental in having the town named for Jenkins Kennard. Hinshaw Street was named after Cyrus and his family. On April 3, 1974 a multi-vortex F4 tornado hit Kennard, Indiana. The storm removed the entire second-story of the Kennard High School and destroyed 70% of the Town, including the Kennard Town Hall and fire station. 17 people were injured and one newborn child was killed in the storm. When two roadways share the same right-of-way, it is sometimes called a common section or commons.
