State Highway 8 (SH 8) is a north–south state highway that runs from the Red River of the South, Red River, the Texas-Arkansas boundary, north of New Boston, Texas, New Boston to State Highway 155 (Texas), SH 155 at Linden, Texas, Linden. History SH 8 was one of the original twenty five state highways on June 21, 1917, proposed as an 'East Texas Highway.' Beltway 8 (BW8), the Sam Houston Parkway, along with the Sam Houston Tollway, is an beltway around the city of Houston, Texas, United States, lying entirely within Harris County. State Highway 87 (SH 87) runs for between Galveston, Texas (at a terminus shared with Interstate 45 and Spur 342) to U.S. Highway 59 and U.S. Highway 84 in Timpson, Texas. Highway 87 has a notable stretch between Sea Rim State Park and High Island, Texas that has been washed out repeatedly over the decades and has been closed continuously since 1990.
