Kerala Public Works Department
Kerala Public Works Department (KPWD) is a department under the government of the state of Kerala, India. It manages the construction and maintenance of civil structures owned by the government viz; government buildings, government owned hospitals (part of the public health system), roads, bridges etc. The KPWD was formed in 1956 following reorganization of states. Taliparamba
Taliparamba (also known as Perinchelloor and Lakshmipuram) is a Municipality in Taliparamba taluk of Kannur district, Kerala, India. The municipal town spreads over an area of and is inhabited by 44,247 number of people. Etymology The town's name may be derived from "Tali" (plate) and "Parambu" (area or ground), and from the legend of Rajarajeshwara Temple. According to this legend, the Ikshvaku King Maandhatha offered great penance to Shiva who in return gifted him with a Shiva Linga and instructed him to place it at a site where there had never been a cremation ground. He found a space the size of a plate in Perinchelloor, and hence the name Taliparamba became attached to the area. Lakshmipuram, a previous name for the city, means place of prosperity. Kannur (), formerly known in English as Cannanore, is a city and a municipal corporation in the state of Kerala, India. Kodagu (also known by its former name Coorg) is an administrative district in the Karnataka state of India. Sreekandapuram is a municipality in Kannur district, in the Indian state of Kerala. Location The town is located on the bank of the Valapattanam river which flows into Arabian sea. It is situated northeast of Kannur, east of Taliparamba and northwest of Iritty. History Sreekandapuram was historically ruled by the Mushika Kingdom. During the 9th century, Ad malik ibndinar founded Mosques at Kodungallur and Madayi and came to Pazhayangadi(Sreekandapuram) travelling by the river and founded 3rd Mosque here. Irikkur is a town and grama panchayat in Kannur District of Kerala state, India. Location Irikkur is located on SH 36 between the towns of Taliparamba and Iritty and directly accessible from Kannur, Mattanur and Thalassery.
