Kerala Public Works Department (KPWD) is a department under the government of the state of Kerala, India. It manages the construction and maintenance of civil structures owned by the government viz; government buildings, government owned hospitals (part of the public health system), roads, bridges etc. The KPWD was formed in 1956 following reorganization of states. Puliyanmala is a village in Idukki district of Kerala state, India. The places intersects SH-19 ( Munnar-Kumily) and SH-33 (Thodupuzha-Puliyanmala), which are the two important state highways in the district. Kulamavu Dam
Kulamavu Dam is a gravity/ masonry dam on Kilivillithode which is a tributary of the Periyar river in Arakkulam village, Idukki district of Kerala, India . It is one of the three dams associated with the Idukki hydro electric power project in the Indian state of Kerala. This dam is located towards the western side of the Idukki Arch Dam. This is a gravity dam with the top portion in concrete and the bottom in masonry. The dam is situated on the Thodupuzha - Puliyanmala state highway ( SH-33), about from Idukki arch dam, from Cheruthoni dam and from Thodupuzha. The dam was completed in the year 1977 and is operated and maintained by Kerala State Electricity Board. The dams of Idukki, Cheruthoni and Kulamavu extend to an area of 33 km2.
