State Committee For Science And Technology
The State Committee for Science and Technology (Gosudarstvennyi Komitet po Nauke i Tekhnike—GKNT) was an influential committee established in the Soviet Union in 1965. It took over from the State Committee for the Introduction of New Technologies (Gostekhnika) which had existed since 1948. The organisation was abolished on 1 December, 1991 by the Decree of the State Council of the USSR of November 14, 1991. Vladimir Alekseyevich Kirillin (russian: Владимир Алексеевич Кириллин; – 29 January 1999) was a Soviet physicist specializing in energetics and thermophysics and a member of the Academy of Sciences of the Soviet Union, as well as a Soviet party official. After graduating from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute in 1936, Kirillin worked at the Kashira State Regional Electric Power Plant, at the Unifold Boiler Construction Bureau, and at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, becoming its professor in 1952. During World War II he served in the navy. From 1954 to 1962 he took leading positions at the Soviet ministries of science and higher education. Gury Ivanovich Marchuk (russian: Гурий Иванович Марчук; 8 June 1925 – 24 March 2013) was a Soviet and Russian scientist in the fields of computational mathematics, and physics of atmosphere. Academician (since 1968); the President of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1986–1991. Among his notable prizes are the USSR State Prize (1979), Demidov Prize (2004), Lomonosov Gold Medal (2004). Marchuk was born in Orenburg Oblast, Russia. Dzhermen Mikhailovich Gvishiani (24 December 1928, Akhaltsikhe – 18 May 2003, Moscow) was a Soviet and Russian philosopher, sociologist, management theorist and scientific administrator. Early life and family Dzhermen Gvishiani was born the son of Mikhail Maksimovich Gvishiani, a Georgian and an Armenian mother. His forename was composed from the first part of Felix Dzerzhinsky's name (Dzher) followed by the first part of Vyacheslav Menzhinsky's name (men). Both were former chairmen of the Joint State Political Directorate (OGPU) for whom his father worked. Since 1948 married to Lyudmila Gvishiani (Kosygina), librarian and the only daughter of the Soviet Prime Minister (by 1948 - Minister of Finances) Alexei Kosygin.
