Start is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Richland Parish, Louisiana, United States. In 2010, it was named as a census-designated place with a population of 905. On September 8, 2018, Start held a community wide celebration in recognition of its centennial year as the named place of Start. Geography Start is located at (32.48639, -91.85917). Start is located near the Boeuf River to the east and Lafourche Diversion Canal to its west. A small tributary called Crew Lake flows through the community. Resettlement Administration
The Resettlement Administration (RA) was a New Deal U.S. federal agency created May 1, 1935. It relocated struggling urban and rural families to communities planned by the federal government. On September 1, 1937, it was succeeded by the Farm Security Administration. History The RA was the brainchild of Rexford G. Tugwell, an economics professor at Columbia University who became an advisor to Franklin D. Girard is an unincorporated community in Richland Parish, Louisiana, United States. Geography Girard is located on the west bank of Boeuf River. US Hwy 80 and the Kansas City Southern railroad also pass through Girard. At the time it was first settled, it fell into the historical boundaries of Ouachita Parish, and later Morehouse Parish, both predating the creation of present-day Richland Parish, which was established in 1868. Luke Joshua Letlow (December 6, 1979 – December 29, 2020) was an American businessman and politician from Louisiana. A Republican, he was elected to the United States House of Representatives for in 2020 but died from complications caused by COVID-19 five days before he was due to take office in the 117th Congress.
