Starsailor (band)
Starsailor are an English post-Britpop band, formed in 2000. Since their formation the band has included guitarist and vocalist James Walsh, drummer Ben Byrne, bassist James Stelfox and keyboardist Barry Westhead. They are best known for their 2003 single " Silence Is Easy" which reached number 9 in the UK. The band has released five studio albums, and have scored ten Top 40 hit singles in the UK. Their first album '' Love Is Here'' was released in 2001, followed by '' Silence Is Easy'' (2003) and '' On the Outside'' (2005). After the release of its fourth album ''All the Plans'' (2009), the band entered into extended hiatus until 2014, during which its members were involved in individual projects. Starsailor announced their reunion on 23 May 2014 and began performing worldwide. '' Good Souls: The Greatest Hits'' was released in September 2015, and featured two new songs. Warrington
Warrington () is a town and unparished area in the borough of the same name in the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England, on the banks of the River Mersey. It is east of Liverpool, and west of Manchester. ''On the Outside'' is the third studio album by British rock band Starsailor. The album was released on 17 October 2005. It was led by the first single, " In the Crossfire" on 3 October 2005. ''On the Outside'' has been certified Silver in the UK. The song "Jeremiah" was written about the death of Jeremiah Duggan, James Walsh having heard Duggan's mother talking about it on the radio. Reception ''On the Outside'' was met with generally favourable reviews from music critics. Doves (band)
Doves are an English indie rock band formed in Manchester. The band is composed of twin brothers Jez Williams (guitar, vocals) and Andy Williams (drums, vocals), and Jimi Goodwin (bass, vocals, guitar). Additionally, the band employs Martin Rebelski, as a touring and session musician on keyboards. The band released four studio albums between 2000 and 2009, two of which reached #1 on the UK album charts. A compilation album, '' The Places Between: The Best of Doves'', was released in April 2010. Doves went on hiatus in 2010. During this time Goodwin released his first solo album, ''Odludek'' (2014), while the Williams brothers regrouped as Black Rivers. Manic Street Preachers
Manic Street Preachers, also known simply as the Manics, are a Welsh Rock music, rock band formed in Blackwood, Caerphilly, Blackwood in 1986. The band consists of cousins James Dean Bradfield (lead vocals, lead guitar) and Sean Moore (musician), Sean Moore (drums, percussion, soundscapes), plus Nicky Wire (bass guitar, lyrics). They form a key part of the 1990s Welsh Cool Cymru cultural movement. The Way Young Lovers Do
"The Way Young Lovers Do" is a song by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison from his second solo album, ''Astral Weeks''. It was recorded in 1968, at Century Sound Studios New York City, during September and October of that year. The song is in triple metre. The distinctive feel of the original recording emerges from the non-rock style of double-bass phrasing by veteran jazzman Richard Davis and additional jazz musician session players, which combined with Morrison's soulful vocals, creates a relatively unusual combination of stylistic elements. Brian Hinton believes that "The song is about growing up, an adolescent first kiss, and still conveys the same sweet mystery as 'Astral Weeks' but more upfront." In Ritchie Yorke's biography on Van Morrison he comments that Van Morrison told him, "On the second side 'Young Lovers Do' is just basically a song about young love" and that Morrison then laughed mysteriously. Sir George Ivan Morrison (born 31 August 1945), known professionally as Van Morrison, is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose recording career spans seven decades. He has won two Grammy Awards. As a teenager in the late 1950s, he played a variety of instruments such as guitar, harmonica, keyboards and saxophone for several Irish showbands, covering the popular hits of that time. Known as "Van the Man" to his fans, Morrison rose to prominence in the mid 1960s as the lead singer of the Northern Irish R&B and rock band Them. Timothy Charles Buckley III (February 14, 1947 – June 29, 1975) was an American musician. His music and style changed considerably through the years. Buckley began his career based in folk music, but his subsequent albums experimented with jazz, psychedelia, funk, soul, the avant-garde, and an evolving voice-as-instrument sound. ''Starsailor'' is the sixth studio album by Tim Buckley, released on Herb Cohen's Straight Records label in November 1970. ''Starsailor'' marks the moment Buckley's folk rock origins became invisible as he fully incorporated jazz rock and avant-garde styles into his music. Although it alienated elements of his fanbase upon release, it also contains his best known song, " Song to the Siren". This more accessible song was written much earlier than ''Starsailors newer material, originally in a more traditional folk arrangement, as shown on the later released compilation album '' Morning Glory: The Tim Buckley Anthology''.
