Starkid
StarKid Productions, also known as Team StarKid, is an American musical theatre company founded in 2009 at the University of Michigan by Darren Criss, Brian Holden, Matt Lang, and Nick Lang. Originally known for the viral success of their first musical, ''A Very Potter Musical'', a parody of the ''Harry Potter'' series, the troupe primarily produces musical comedies inspired by pop culture, with original scripts, songs, and music. StarKid distributes their musicals for free on YouTube, with recent projects being funded by Kickstarter and physical ticket sales. Since the success of ''A Very Potter Musical'', the group has produced thirteen stage musicals (including two Potter sequels), three national tours, two reunion concert specials, three sketch comedy shows, and three web series. Darren Criss
Darren Everett Criss (born February 5, 1987) is an American actor, singer, and songwriter. He rose to fame starring on the television series ''Glee'' (2010–2015) and received Emmy and Golden Globe acting awards for his leading role as spree killer Andrew Cunanan in '' The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story'' (2018). He has also appeared on Broadway and in film and has released several musical albums. Black Friday (musical)
''Black Friday'' is a comedy-horror musical with music and lyrics by Jeff Blim and a book by Matt and Nick Lang. It is the twelfth staged show produced by StarKid Productions and takes place in the same setting as their previous musical ''The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals'', though in an alternate universe where the events of the previous musical never happened. The show ran from October 31, 2019 to December 8, 2019 at the ''Hudson Mainstage Theatre'' in Los Angeles, California, directed by Nick Lang. A live recording of the musical was uploaded on YouTube on February 29, 2020 and sold on DVD. A cast recording was released on February 29, 2020 on ''Apple Music'' and their website. ''Starship'' is a musical with music and lyrics by Darren Criss, and a book by Matt Lang, Nick Lang, Brian Holden, and Joe Walker. ''Starship'' is about an alien planet inhabited by giant insects, called Bug-World. One of these insects, named Bug, comes across a crashed human starship and becomes infatuated with the idea of becoming a Starship Ranger, and he gets his chance when a group of humans land on Bug-World in an attempt to colonize the planet. The musical was performed February 11-23rd, 2011, at the Hoover-Leppen Theatre in Chicago, Illinois (this was the first StarKid stage production to not be performed on the University of Michigan campus). Carlos David Valdes (born April 20, 1989) is a Colombian-American actor and singer.
