Star Awards 2010 (Chinese: 红星大奖 2010) was a double television award ceremony held in Singapore. It is part of the annual Star Awards organised by MediaCorp for the two free-to-air channels, MediaCorp Channel 8 and MediaCorp Channel U. The nomination lists for the main categories and popularity awards were announced on 3 February and 18 March 2010, respectively. This year ''Star Awards'' marked the first time the Professional and Technical awards (given out to backstage crew and scriptwriters) were telecast and presented in one show (first show), and was also the second year to host multiple award shows airing on two separate Sunday nights, after 2007. While the first show was still held at MediaCorp TV Theatre, the second show was, for the third time in ''Star Awards history, being held on the new location of Resorts World Sentosa, after 1996 and 2006. Channel 8 (Singaporean TV Channel)
Channel 8 ( zh, 8頻道) is a Singaporean free-to-air television channel, airing in Mandarin Chinese. It was created by Television Singapura on 31 August 1963 with experimental broadcasts, before going official on 23 November that year. The channel's logo is a yellow number 8 on top of a red disc. History Channel 8 began its test transmissions on Saturday, 31 August 1963, Malaysia's national day. Its first day consisted of a Hokkien film, repeats of India's participation in the South East Asian Cultural Festival and Singapore Celebrates. A second test transmission took place between 16 and 20 September of that year and devoted much of its time to the week-long celebrations, to coincide with the historic Proclamation of Malaysia, and the political campaigns leading up to the 1963 General Election. My School Daze (simplified Chinese: 书包太重) is a Singaporean Chinese drama which was telecasted on Singapore's free-to-air channel, Mediacorp Channel 8. It made its debut on 29 April 2009 and ended on 26 May 2009. This drama serial consists of 20 episodes, and was screened on every weekday night at 9:00 pm. Boon Hui Lu (, born 11 December 1993) is a Singaporean actress, singer and songwriter. Early life Born to a self-employed courier provider father and a housewife Boon studied at Anglican High School. Star Awards 2006 is a television awards ceremony telecast in 2006 as part of the annual Star Awards organised by MediaCorp for MediaCorp TV Channel 8. The ceremony, alongside the Walk-of-fame and the Post-show party, were held on 10 December 2006 in Singapore and was hosted by Guo Liang and Taiwanese host Patty Hou. Star Awards 2007 () was a television award ceremony held in Singapore. It is part of the annual Star Awards organised by MediaCorp for MediaCorp TV Channel 8. It was the first ''Star Awards'' ceremony to be broadcast in two weeks putting emphasis on two programmes; the first ceremony, broadcast on 9 December 2007, titled 红星大奖之戏剧情牵25 (lit. ''Star Awards 25th Drama Anniversary''), commentating 25 years of drama in the Television in Singapore (the ceremony would later become a legacy of having a separate presentation of Professional and Technical awards, which would not happen until ''Star Awards 2010''). It is part of the annual ''Star Awards'' organised by MediaCorp for the two free-to-air channels, MediaCorp Channel 8 and MediaCorp Channel U. As like the preceding year's ceremony, this year's ''Star Awards'' were broadcast in two live-telecast shows on Channel 8, on 17 and 24 April. The first show, titled 银光闪耀 (lit. Blinding Silverlight) was broadcast live on 17 April 2011 at MediaCorp Studios, which primarily focuses on giving out mostly technical awards and the Favourite popularity awards which introduced since last year.
