Star (Murk Album)
Murk (also known by several other names, including Funky Green Dogs) is a house-music production team composed of Ralph Falcón and Oscar Gaetan. It formed in Miami in 1991. The group had seven consecutive singles that topped Billboard's Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. Career Murk is one of the most influential music label in house music history. It has a vast back catalog of compositions dating from the early 1990s, including "Some Lovin'", "Reach For Me", "Been a long time" and "Every Now and Then," and many newer tracks such as "Fired up!" (#80 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100), "The Way," "Dark Beat," "Doesn't Really Matter," and "Believe." Murk also performed as Funky Green Dogs. The label worked with several vocalists, including Pamala Williams, Tamara Wallace and more. Gaetan and Falcón also released songs under the names Liberty City and Oscar G & Ralph Falcón. ''Get Fired Up'' is the debut album of Murk as Funky Green Dogs. It was released on Twisted America/MCA Records, catalog number TWD-11511. The production doesn't stray far from the catchy, successful formula of the two major club chart hits and pop crossover hits "The Way" and "Fired Up!". In the issue dated March 16, 1985, '' Billboard'' magazine debuted its first chart devoted exclusively to 12-inch Singles Sales. The 50-position weekly ranking joined ''Billboard''s established Club Songs chart, reduced to the same 50 positions, both under the title Hot Dance/Disco. A coupling from MCA Records' ''Beverly Hills Cop'' soundtrack, Patti LaBelle's " New Attitude" and Harold Faltermeyer's "Axel F", held the No. 1 slot for the chart's first week and was also No. 1 for the second consecutive week on the most played dance/disco chart. Dance/Mix Show Airplay (formerly Hot Dance Airplay) is a monitored electronic dance music radio chart that is published weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine. History The chart came about as a result of the small but influential impact of electronic dance music on the radio in the United States and the stations that program it. Debuting as Hot Dance Radio Airplay in the issue dated October 25, 2003, it initially ranked the 25 most-played songs over eight radio stations playing mainly dance music and monitored by Nielsen BDS.
