StarStruck (2005 TV Series)
StarStruck was a short-lived 2005 Australian television series, that screened on the Nine Network. It was hosted by Larry Emdur and Catriona Rowntree. It was based on the successful ''Stars in Their Eyes'' in the United Kingdom, which in turn was based on the Dutch TV show ''Soundmixshow''. Contestants were introduced and then whisked away to be transformed into the star of their choice. They would emerge for their performance, supported by dancers, a choir and an orchestra. Contestants were judged on their performances by Doug Mulray and Vanessa Amorosi. The program debuted strongly winning the 7.30pm timeslot with an average of 1.58 million viewers across Australia. The Nine Network (stylised 9Network, commonly known as Channel Nine or simply Nine) is an Australian commercial free-to-air television network. Larry Emdur
Larry Emdur (born 9 December 1964) is an Australian television personality. Emdur is currently co-host of '' The Morning Show'' alongside Kylie Gillies, and host of '' The Chase Australia''. The duo also hosted the Australian version of ''Celebrity Splash!''. He formerly hosted the Australian version of game show '' The Price Is Right'' from 1993 to 1998 and later 2003 to 2005 on the Nine Network and then again when the show returned to the Seven Network on 7 May 2012. The show was cancelled later that year. Catriona Rowntree
Catriona Rowntree (born 19 July 1971) is an Australian television presenter. Rowntree is currently a presenter on the Nine Network's '' Getaway'' program. Career Rowntree studied journalism at Macleay College in Sydney, after working as a researcher with Business Review Weekly, 2GB and Prime Television. In 1991, she moved to FM radio as a newsreader and music and lifestyle program host, first in community radio and then with the ABC youth station Triple J, for which she presented until 1996. In 1992, Rowntree was hired as a researcher for the Nine Network children's series ''Wonder World!'', graduating to the position of reporter the following year, and host in 1994. ''Stars in Their Eyes'' is a British television talent series, based on Joop van den Ende's Dutch format ''Soundmixshow''. It featured a singing contest in which members of the public impersonate showbiz stars. The show premiered on 21 July 1990 and initially ran until 23 December 2006. It was produced by Granada for ITV and originally presented by Leslie Crowther. Matthew Kelly took over in May 1993, before he was replaced by Cat Deeley in April 2004. Doug Mulray
Douglas John Mulray (born 1 December 1951) is an Australian comedian, radio and television presenter. He grew up in the Sydney Northern Beaches suburb of Dee Why. Radio career Mulray began his career at 2AD in Armidale, after doing a broadcasting course at the Digamae (Rod Muir's) Radio School. From there he grafted his way south, securing a spot with Central Coast station 2GO Gosford. During the mid 1970s he worked on 3AW Melbourne with a program called "Mulray & The Man". In the late 1970s, he started a permanent job in Sydney with Australian Broadcasting Corporation's alternative rock station 2JJ (later Triple J), where he built up a sizeable following. In 1982 he was poached by a new station, Triple M.
