Stapleton Island is a small (4 ha) island on the northern Great Barrier Reef of Far North Queensland, Australia. It lies about 40 km off Cape Melville on the east coast of the Cape York Peninsula. It is important as a nesting site for boobies and terns. Description The island is an elongated cay, about long with a maximum width of . It is constituted of coral sand and reef rubble rising to a central ridge above sea level. The outer edge has a beach community of herbs and the sand ridge is dominated by low shrubs and ''Lepturus'' grass. The island is a designated Preservation Area within the Howick Group National Park with no general public access. Birds The island has been identified by BirdLife International as an Important Bird Area (IBA) because it has supported over 1% of the world populations of brown boobies (with up to 1000 nests) and lesser crested terns (up to 9800 breeding pairs). Stapleton International Airport
Stapleton International Airport was a major airport in the western United States, and the primary airport of Denver, Colorado, from 1929 to 1995. It was a hub for Continental Airlines, the original Frontier Airlines, People Express, United Airlines, and Western Airlines. Other airlines with smaller operations at Stapleton included Aspen Airways, Frontier Airlines, and Rocky Mountain Airways, all three being based in Denver at the time. The Stapleton station is an elevated Staten Island Railway station in the neighborhood of Stapleton, Staten Island, New York, located at Bay Street and Prospect Street on the main line. History This station opened on July 31, 1884, with the extension of the SIRT from Vanderbilt's Landing to Tompkinsville. Stapleton is a neighborhood in northeastern Staten Island in New York City in the United States. It is located along the waterfront of Upper New York Bay, roughly bounded on the north by Tompkinsville at Grant Street, on the south by Clifton at Vanderbilt Avenue, and on the west by St. Paul's Avenue and Van Duzer Street, which form the border with the community of Grymes Hill. Stapleton is one of the older waterfront neighborhoods of the borough, built in the 1830s on land once owned by the Vanderbilt family. It was a long-time commercial center of the island, but has struggled to revive after several decades of neglect following the 1964 construction of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, which shifted the commercial development of the island to its interior. Stapleton is a small unincorporated community in northern Baldwin County, Alabama, United States, with a population of 51 It is part of the Daphne-Fairhope-Foley metropolitan area.
